Identification of an electromagnetic actuator
Proceedings of the 41st IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2002., 2004We apply time-domain system identification techniques to an electromagnetic actuator. This actuator is part of the vibration isolation testbed at the University of Michigan.

Independently controllable electromagnetic spherical actuator
2012 XXth International Conference on Electrical Machines, 2012We have been developing electromagnetic spherical actuators capable of three-degree-of-freedom rotation. However, these actuators require complex control because rotation around one axis interferes with rotation around another. In this paper we propose a new 3-DOF actuator where the 3-axes can be independently controlled.

Bi-directional electrothermal electromagnetic actuators
Journal of Micromechanics and Microengineering, 2007A new breed of in-plane bi-directional MEMS actuators based on controlled electrothermal buckling and electromagnetic Lorentz force has been demonstrated under both dc and ac operations. Experimentally, bi-directional actuators made by the standard surface-micromachining process have a lateral actuation range of several microns and can exert forces ...

Evaluation of electromagnetic actuator analysis
2006 37th IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference, 2006In this paper the three different level of co-simulation are compared and the output waveforms are presented. The co-simulation is realized between two different programs (power electronic circuit simulator — control part and finite element analysis — magnetic and mechanic model part).

Network models of electromagnetic actuators
15th International Workshop on Research and Education in Mechatronics (REM), 2014The paper presents network models that are used in the analysis and design of electromagnetic actuators. The attention is focused on the magnetic networks. Both permeance and reluctance networks are analyzed. The presented network models are formed using the finite element methods.

Disposable Polymeric Electromagnetic Actuated Micropump
Advanced Science Letters, 2012A polymer based disposable micropump was designed and evaluated for drug release and control mechanism. The micropump is constructed via hot embossing replication technique with poly(methylmethacrylate) as body structure material and poly(dimethylsiloxane) as membrane.

Electromagnetic actuator for voice coil
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1979An electromagnetic actuator for linear driving of movable heads of a magnetic disc unit in an information processing system. A plurality of slits or plates are provided with a magnetic pole inscribed directly on the internal surface of a permanent magnet, and increase magnetic reluctance of the magnetic path and reduce inductance of a moving coil, thus

Miniaturized Dual Electromagnetic Oscillatory Actuator
Advanced Science and Technology Letters, 2014In this research we propose a miniaturized dual electromagnetic oscillatory actuator. The proposed actuator is a moving magnet type voice coil actuator with two rotating parts. The structure of the actuator is simple, which includes two magnets, a coil, and a yoke. We provide a linear model for the actuator.

Micromanipulation Using Distributed Electromagnetic Actuators
Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS), 1996Abstract A method of micromanipulation using a microcoil array is proposed. Active coils drive permanent magnets on a work platform. The magnets can push mechanical parts to perform 2-dimensional assembly. Three-dimensional operation may be achieved from 2D magnet motion when the permanent magnets are parts of a closed loop spatial ...
