Design and modeling of an electromagnetic peristaltic micropump

2014 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics, 2014
Microfluidics or the ability to manipulate micro volumes of a fluid is a field in expansion. As some examples of potential applications are cited drug delivery systems, electronic cooling devices, micro lab on a chip or dosage systems. Driving fluid from one point to another in those systems is a major challenge.

Electromagnetic Design of Microactuators

2011
The electromagnetic design of microactuators differs significantly from that of conventional motors in at least two respects: The use of microfabrication allows the design of completely new topologies of the active part that could not – or not economically – be manufactured from currently used iron and copper wire.

Design for electromagnetic wave transparency with metamaterials

Physical Review E, 2006
With the help of the "neutral inclusion" concept, the conditions of electromagnetic wave transparency for multilayered spheres, coated spheroids, and general particulate composites are analytically derived in the quasistatic case. The basic idea is to make the effective material property of a composite region equal to that of the surrounding medium ...

Electromagnetic design of atypical induction motor

IECON 2014 - 40th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2014
This article deals with an electromagnetic design of a three phase winding for an induction motor with unusual number of stator and rotor slots (30/22). There are presented two types of windings. The first one is a classic integral-slot winding (m = 3, p = 1, Q s = 30, q = 5, y = 15) and second one is an interspersed winding 1-3-1.

THE DESIGN OF ELECTROMAGNETIC GEOPHONES*

Geophysical Prospecting, 1953
AbstractThis paper summarizes and extends the published information on the theoretical design of electromagnetic geophones. Both moving‐coil and moving‐armature instruments are considered, their behaviour compared and various design criteria established.

Design For Electromagnetic Compatibility

1996
This chapter discusses design for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in the design of electrical and electronic equipment. We first describe how the subject of EMC divides into ‘emissions’ and ‘immunity’, discuss the implications of the European EMC Directive, and stress the importance of considering EMC at all stages of the design of equipment.

Electromagnetic Lens Design

2003
In this paper we consider the design of transition regions (EM transient lenses) which serve to transmit waves, ideally with no reflection or distortion, from one transmission line to another. The design is accomplished by specifying the shape and medium of the lens region.

A Smart Algorithm for selection and design of Electromagnet for Electromagnetic Launchers

2020 Fourth International Conference on I-SMAC (IoT in Social, Mobile, Analytics and Cloud) (I-SMAC), 2020
With the advent of high functioning techniques worldwide especially in the field of electrical and electronics, electromagnetics is no exception. In this paper, the modelling of different variations of a particular magnet to test the force versus current criteria is done. This has helped to select a nominal layout of an electromagnet which is conducive

Analysis and design of smart electromagnetic structures

Smart Materials and Structures, 2008
Use of ferroelectric materials to improve antenna performance is an area of active research. Applying an electric field across a ferroelectric used as the dielectric in an antenna enables tuning the antenna performance. Ferroelectrics also have coupled electromechanical behavior due to which it is sensitive to mechanical strains and fluctuations in ...
