Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Transparent subdiffraction optics: nanoscale light confinement without metal

open access: yes, 2014
The integration of nanoscale electronics with conventional optical devices is restricted by the diffraction limit of light. Metals can confine light at the subwavelength scales needed, but they are lossy, while dielectric materials do not confine ...

Advancing Electronic Application of Coordination Solids: Enhancing Electron Transport and Device Integration via Surface‐Mounted MOFs (SURMOFs)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The layer‐by‐layer (LbL) assembly of coordination solids, enabled by the surface‐mounted metal‐organic framework (SURMOF) platform, is on the cusp of generating the organic counterpart of the epitaxy of inorganics. The programmable and sequential SURMOF protocol, optimized by machine learning (ML), is suited for accessing high‐quality thin films of ...

Implantation of Electromagnetic Ossicular Replacement Device

open access: yesEar, Nose & Throat Journal, 1994
Semi-implantable hearing aids consisting of permanent middle ear implanted magnet, either partial ossicular replacement prostheses (PORP's) or total ossicular replacement prostheses (TORP's) driven by an electromagnet placed in the ear canal have been tested on six patients undergoing surgery for chronic otitis. The surgical and audiological problems

A modified inverse scheme for magnetic material characterization of an electromagnetic device with minimal influence of multiple geometrical uncertainties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The properties of the magnetic core materials inside electromagnetic devices can be retrieved by solving an electromagnetic inverse problem. In such inverse problems, the unknown parameters are recovered by interpreting well-chosen measurements using a ...

MOFs and COFs in Electronics: Bridging the Gap between Intrinsic Properties and Measured Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) hold promise for advanced electronics. However, discrepancies in reported electrical conductivities highlight the importance of measurement methodologies. This review explores intrinsic charge transport mechanisms and extrinsic factors influencing performance, and critically ...
