New approaches for enhancements on transmission of electromagnetic signals

2017 25th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU), 2017
In this study, frequently encountered unwanted parasitic or noise signals during the transmission of electromagnetic signals are tried to be reduced by a new approach is proposed. By this method, the mentioned noise effect between the near transmitter-receiver or two reciprocal antennas, is aimed to be eliminated.

Field Enhancement with Classical Electromagnetically Induced Transparency

2014
A key challenge in the design of tunable and nonlinear metamaterials is creating large local electromagnetic fields to enhance the nonlinear interaction. An attractive way to achieve local field enhancement is the use of metamaterials with dark resonators, i.e., with meta-atoms that do not directly couple to the external field.

Finding electromagnetic and chemical enhancement factors of surface-enhanced Raman scattering

Optics Letters, 2007
The authors report two methods to determine electromagnetic and chemical enhancement factors in surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), which are based on saturation property and decay dynamics of photoluminescence and concurrent measurements of photoluminescence and resonance Raman scattering intensities.

Electromagnetic field enhancement in TERS configurations

Journal of Raman Spectroscopy, 2009
AbstractWe use three‐dimensional finite‐difference time domain (3D‐FDTD) simulations to investigate the field enhancement properties of tip‐enhanced Raman scattering (TERS) in order to find optimal geometric parameters of the metal tip and the metal substrate under certain excitation wavelengths with side illumination.

Surface-Enhanced Electromagnetic Processes

1984
Publisher Summary The chapter presents a study on surface- enhanced electromagnetic processes. The chapter discusses evidence that an electromagnetic mechanism involving localized surface plasmons provides a very important contribution to the enhancement.

Electromagnetic Raman Enhancement Beyond Gap Limit

Physical Review Letters
Surface-enhanced Raman scattering is of great importance to trace-level detection with fingerprint information of analytes. However, there is no room for electric dipole enhancement mechanism to further improve the enhancement factor and detect macromolecules. Here, we break the limits by electric multipoles with anapole states, as well as bound states

Electromagnetically Enhanced Filtration of Aluminum Melts

2011
The major drawback of the use of Ceramic Foam Filters (CFF) for purification of aluminum is their low efficiency for particles in the range of 10–30 μm. The application of electromagnetic force from an induction coil in combination with a filter can cause back mixing and recirculation through the filter media. In the present work an experimental set-up

Enhancing electromagnetism experiments with clamp-on ammeters

American Journal of Physics, 2001
Experiments designed to illustrate the principles embodied in Ampere’s Law and Faraday’s Law often depend on the knowledge of the number of turns of wire on various types of laboratory coils. The lack of direct measurement of this parameter can be overcome with the use of inexpensive (<$85) digital clamp-on ammeters.
