Electromagnetic Forces on a Superconductor

Physical Review, 1950
Measurements of the eddy current damping of the rotational oscillations of a tin sphere suspended in a magnetic field from a torsion fiber give the expected results as a function of the magnetic field and the conductivity as long as the tin is a normal conductor.

Proximal electromagnetic shear forces

Journal of Microscopy, 1999
We perform a simple model calculation to estimate the electromagnetically induced shear force caused by a current dissipation when a charged tip is moved parallel to a conducting material. For parameters typical in shear force imaging, the force is many orders of magnitude below reported values.

Electromagnetic Forces in Conductors

Journal of Applied Physics, 1967
Relaxation-averaging formulas are derived for magnetic-induction problems involving axially symmetric fields with sinusoidal or pulsed time dependence in media which may be linear or nonlinear, homogeneous or inhomogeneous. Solutions have been obtained from a high-speed digital computer for time-harmonic fields in linear, inhomogeneous media.

Numerical calculation of electromagnetic forces

Mathematics and Computers in Simulation, 1987
Models for field determination in electromagnetic devices in order to calculate forces are discussed. Proposed models accounting for saturation and movement with high accuracy field values needed for force calculation are also given. Finite elements are used in the saturated parts coupled with analytical solution or boundary integral in the air-gaps ...

Bridge measurement of electromagnetic forces

Electrical Engineering, 1935
A simple impedance bridge may be used to measure the variation of inductance of a disconnecting switch of practical dimensions as the switch blade is displaced by slight amounts from the closed position. The electromagnetic force tending to open the switch blade, calculated from the observed variation of inductance, checks the theoretical value ...

Comparative Study of Sideband Electromagnetic Force in Internal and External Rotor PMSMs With SVPWM Technique

IEEE transactions on industrial electronics (1982. Print), 2019
The permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) with space vector pulsewidth modulation (SVPWM) technique will inevitably introduce sideband current harmonic components around the carrier frequency.

Electromagnetism as an inertial force

Lettere Al Nuovo Cimento Series 2, 1973
Iner t ia l motion. I t is possible to describe electromagnetism as well as gravitation as an inertial force? This should mean that the trajectory of a test particle of any charge q and mass m, subject only to gravitational and e.m. (electromagnetic) forces, should be universal independent of q and m a n d invariant ly defined in a basic geometry for ...

Modeling Electromagnetic Force and Axial-Stiffness for an Electromagnetic Negative-Stiffness Spring Toward Vibration Isolation

IEEE transactions on magnetics, 2019
In this paper, a novel electromagnetic negative-stiffness spring (ENSS) is constructed by coaxial permanent annular magnets and coils with rectangular cross section. The stiffness of the ENSS is negative when the coils carry exciting current.
