Relational electromagnetism and the electromagnetic force

open access: yes, 2021
The force exerted by an electromagnetic body on another body in relative motion, and its minimal expression, the force on moving charges or \emph{Lorentz' force} constitute the link between electromagnetism and mechanics. Expressions for the force were produced first by Maxwell and later by H. A. Lorentz, but their expressions disagree.

Topology Optimization to Reduce Electromagnetic Force Induced Vibration for the Specific Frequency of PMSM Motor Using Electromagnetic-Structural Coupled Analysis

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
Vibration and noise reduction are very important in electric vehicle driving motors. In this study, topology optimization of housing was performed to reduce vibration in a specific frequency caused by electromagnetic force generated by a permanent magnet

A Bio-Inspired 3-D Neural Compass Based on Head Direction Cells

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Head direction cells (HDCs) in mammals’ brains are thought to provide the sense of direction (function of a compass). They fire when the animal’s head points to a specific orientation.

On the Electromagnetic Energies and Forces

open access: yesAtti della Accademia Peloritana dei Pericolanti : Classe di Scienze Fisiche, Matematiche e Naturali, 2021
The problem of the `infinite energy' of a point charge is well known in connection with the Lorentz--Abraham--Dirac equation and, more significantly, in quantum electrodynamics. Though it is not stated usually, this is strongly related to the old problem of what the electromagnetic energy-momentum tensor is.

Influence of high‐order electromagnetic force on vibration characteristics of induction motor

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, 2023
The exploration of electromagnetic vibration sources is very important for the vibroacoustic reduction of a squirrel‐cage induction motor. However, the influence of high‐order electromagnetic force on the electromagnetic vibration of induction motor has ...

Force Calculation in Electromagnetic Devices [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
In this paper the authors show how the Maxwell stress tensor can be used, in practice, in order to determine local magnetic forces distribution in an electromagnetic system. An experimental set-up has been designed in view of comparing the theoretical results with the measurements.
