Partial Refactorization-Based Machine Modeling Techniques for Electromagnetic Transients
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2016Electromagnetic transient-type (EMT-type) programs solve nodal analysis or modified-augmented-nodal-analysis (MANA) formulation-based power system network equations (PSNE). The PSNE coefficient matrix can be either constant or time varying depending on the utilized synchronous machine (SM) model. Therefore, a computational efficiency comparison for the

Electromagnetic transient modeling (EMT) of IBR plants
Plant specific EMT models are now a common requirement for larger inverter based renewable (IBR plants). The panel session will explore what studies are being done in EMT. Example plant studies such as transformer energization rapid voltage change (RVC) and transient overvoltage evaluations will be presented as case studies.Jonathan Rose +5 more

An efficient synchronous machine model for electromagnetic transients
2012 IEEE Power and Energy Society General Meeting, 2012Summary form only given. This paper proposes a new synchronous machine model based on the application of Park's transformation to the discretized equations of the phase-domain model. The proposed approach maintains the precision of the phasedomain model and eliminates its computational inefficiencies through a constant admittance matrix.

Synchronous generator models for the simulation of electromagnetic transients
2010Techniques for modelling of synchronous generators in the simulation of electromagnetic transients are described. First of all, an adequate mathematical model of the generator is established. It uses the conventional set of generator data only, which are readily available, but it is flexible enough to accommodate additional data, if and when such ...

Consistent Discretization of Electromagnetic Fields and Transient Modeling
1999Summary Differential forms provide an elegant formulation of electromagnetic field theory. Their geometric structure also leads to a self-consistent scheme for discretizing Maxwell’s equations in conducting media. This discretization, which is essentially a staggered-grid scheme, preserves differential operator identities ...

Modeling of electromagnetic transients in frequencycontrolled induction motor
2022The time dependences of currents and voltagesin circuits with complex switching of three-phasefrequency converters with pulse-width modulation for traction rolling stock of railway transport are due to manyfactors. The main of these factors is the arbitrary order ofswitching of many switches at the same time and thearbitrary time of the circuit in each
