Diffraction of electromagnetic wave by a damped plasma wave
Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion, 1988An improved theoretical analysis of a far forward scattering method is presented. It is further confirmed by the authors' experiments, performed at millimeter wavelengths. Success of introducing the plasma wave damping effect into the theoretical analysis has made it possible to explain the asymmetric intensity profile observed in some far forward ...

Fraunhofer Diffraction of an Electromagnetic Wave
Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1961Kottler’s theory is specialized for application to Fraunhofer diffraction. The predicted electromagnetic field is transverse in the Fraunhofer region and agrees with that obtained from Kirchhoff’s scalar theory for directions of propagation along or near the direction of the central maximum.

Diffraction of Electromagnetic Waves by Sound Waves
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1961For the diffraction of electromagnetic waves from a standing sound wave, the amplitudes of the first diffraction order are calculated from Born's approximation. If the wavelength of the electromagnetic signal is made comparable to the acoustic wavelength, the first diffraction order vanishes periodically with increasing width of the sound beam because ...

Diffraction of electromagnetic waves by transparent edges*
Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1974We have measured the diffraction pattern of the edge of a transparent sheet for plane-polarized microwaves (λ = 3.0 cm) for angles of incidence from 0° to 45°. The material was expanded polyurethane (Styrofoam) with index of refraction 1.0150 (that of air being 1.0003). The thickness of the sheet, and thus of the rectangular edge, varied from 1.7 to 13.

On Diffraction and Radiation of Electromagnetic Waves
Physical Review, 1939Inasmuch as it is rarely possible to treat diffraction of electromagnetic waves exactly, the Kirchhoff formulation of Huygens' Principle has been frequently used in approximate calculations. If the Kirchhoff formula is applied directly to the field intensities of the incident wave over the aperture, the diffracted field is found to be inconsistent with

Dipole-wave theory of electromagnetic diffraction
Physics-Uspekhi, 2002A theory of diffraction is presented which systematically employs the wave approach used in the Kirchhoff method and, unlike the Kirchhoff integral, does not have severe applicability limitations. The diffraction problem is solved by using the Hertz vector instead of the field vector used in the Kirchhoff integral.

Diffraction of single-period terahertz electromagnetic waves
Journal of Optical Technology, 2011Analytical expressions are obtained for the spatial distribution of the temporal spectra of paraxial waves consisting of one complete vibration of the electromagnetic field in the regions of Fresnel and Fraunhofer diffraction and for the spatiotemporal distribution of their field in the region of Fraunhofer diffraction.

Diffraction of electromagnetic wave on skin capillary
Proceedings of the International Conference Days on Diffraction 2014, 2014We have formulated and solved the problem of electromagnetic wave diffraction on skin blood vessel. As an important result of our investigation, it is established that the amplitude of the scattered field is proportional to the square of the capillary area.

Multi-Slit Diffraction of Evanescent Electromagnetic Waves
Chinese Physics Letters, 2008The well-known Fraunhofer multi-slit diffraction is described as the multi-slit interference modulated by the single-slit diffraction, namely the multiplication between the single-slit diffraction factor and the multi-slit interference factor. By considering the simplified argument we show that the multi-slit diffraction of evanescent waves which are ...
