Role of different type of sub-systems in doubly driven Lambda-system in 87Rb

open access: yes, 2012
The well known Lambda-system using two ground state hyperfine levels, F=1 and F=2 of 5S1/2 and one hyperfine level, F=2 of excited state of 5P3/2 of 87Rb has been recently studied using two counter- propagating control lasers [1].

PT symmetry via electromagnetically induced transparency

open access: yesOptics Express, 2013
We propose a scheme to realize parity-time (PT) symmetry via electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT). The system we consider is an ensemble of cold four-level atoms with an EIT core. We show that the cross-phase modulation contributed by an assisted field, the optical lattice potential provided by a far-detuned laser field, and the optical gain ...

Imaging of Biphoton States: Fundamentals and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Quantum states of two photons exhibit a rich polarization and spatial structure, which provides a fundamental resource of strongly correlated and entangled states. This review analyzes the physics of these intriguing properties and explores the various techniques and technologies available to measure them, including the state of the art of their ...

Metamaterial Transparency Induced by Cooperative Electromagnetic Interactions [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2013
We propose a cooperative asymmetry-induced transparency, CAIT, formed by collective excitations in metamaterial arrays of discrete resonators. CAIT can display a sharp transmission resonance even when the constituent resonators individually exhibit broad resonances.

Self‐Sintering Ionogel Binder for Flexible, Recyclable, and Healable Printed Giant Magnetoresistive Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electronic waste has emerged as a major environmental challenge, driven by the massive consumption and a limited lifetime of modern electronic devices, stimulating the development of sustainable electronics. Here, an all‐biomaterial gelatin‐choline‐citric acid ([Ch][CA]) ionogel is developed as an active binder to realize self‐sintered ...

Quantum Heat Engine Using Electromagnetically Induced Transparency [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2017
We report an experiment demonstrating the generation of directional thermal radiation with a spectral brightness that is about 9 times greater than that of the ambient pumping reservoir. The experiment is based on the recent proposal for a nontraditional quantum heat engine and uses cold Rb atoms, electromagnetically induced transparency, and photon ...

Atomic Layer Deposition in Transistors and Monolithic 3D Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Transistors are fundamental building blocks of modern electronics. This review summarizes recent progress in atomic layer deposition (ALD) for the synthesis of two‐dimensional (2D) metal oxides and transition‐metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), with particular emphasis on their enabling role in monolithic three‐dimensional (M3D) integration for next ...

Electromagnetically Induced Transparency in an Entangled Medium [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2014
We theoretically investigate light propagation and electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in a quasi one-dimensional gas in which atoms interact strongly via exchange interactions. We focus on the case in which the gas is initially prepared in a many-body state that contains a single excitation and conduct a detailed study of the absorptive and

Sensitized Triplet Exciton Generation in Nanostructured Polymer Scintillators: Toward Improved γ/Neutron Discrimination

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Rapid γ/neutron discrimination through PSD is achieved in liquid droplet containing nanostructured polymeric scintillator where a TTA‐active dye is dissolved. The inclusion of a properly selected and dosed sensitizer metalated porphyrin enhances discrimination sensitivity and speed by doubling the density of annihilating triplets and increasing the ...
