Multi‐Scale Characterization of PLA Composites With Natural‐Based Reinforcements: From Filament to 3D‐Printed Parts

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Thermal, microstructural, and mechanical characterization of 3D‐printed PLA composite parts. ABSTRACT To address plastic waste and agricultural residue underutilization, this study evaluates the thermal (DSC and FTIR), microstructural (SEM), and mechanical behavior of polylactic acid (PLA) reinforced with flax fibers and olive pit particles, processed ...

Concrete damage diagnosis using electromechanical impedance technique

Construction and Building Materials, 2017
Abstract Here an embedded piezoelectric sensor was fabricated to monitor the freezing-thawing and crack damage of concrete by using electromechanical impedance technique. The results show that the damage evolution of concrete is dependent on impedance spectra of the piezoelectric sensor.

Electromechanical Impedance Modeling for Adhesively Bonded Piezo-Transducers

Journal of Intelligent Material Systems and Structures, 2004
The electromechanical impedance (EMI) technique for structural health monitoring (SHM) and nondestructive evaluation (NDE) employs piezoelectric-ceramic (PZT) patches, which are surface bonded to the monitored structures using adhesives. The adhesive forms a finitely thick, permanent interfacial layer between the host structure and the patch.

PZT based smart corrosion coupon using electromechanical impedance

Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, 2019
Abstract Corrosion induced material loss in metallic structures is a widespread and urgent problem across multiple industries. In this paper, a novel corrosion monitoring method is proposed based on the lead zirconate titanate (PZT) based smart corrosion coupon (SCC) using electromechanical impedance (EMI).
