Whole-body Electromyostimulation plus Caloric Restriction in Metabolic Syndrome

International Journal of Sports Medicine, 2020
AbstractWe investigated early effects of Whole-Body Electromyostimulation added to hypocaloric diet on metabolic syndrome features in sedentary middle-aged individuals. We randomly assigned 25 patients to Whole-Body Electromyostimulation plus caloric restriction or caloric restriction alone ...

Low-frequency electromyostimulation and chronic heart failure

Annales de Réadaptation et de Médecine Physique, 2008
Low-frequency electromyostimulation (EMS) acts on the skeletal muscle abnormalities that aggravate intolerance to effort in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF). It improves the oxidative capacity of muscles and thus enhances aerobic performance and physical capacity to almost the same degree, as does conventional physical training.

Incomplete Muscle Activation After Training With Electromyostimulation

Canadian Journal of Applied Physiology, 1998
Training with voluntary or electromyostimulation (EMS)-evoked eccentric contractions should produce complete muscle activation, since EMS and eccentric contractions preferentially recruit large motor units. Subjects (22 women ages 18-40) were randomly assigned to a voluntary (VOL; n = 8), EMS (n = 8), or control group.

Functional Features of High Power Electromyostimulator Operation

Journal of Communications Technology and Electronics, 2021
The development of an original electromytostimulator is presented, and the functionality of the proposed device is investigated. The main feature of this device is to receive an output signal of increased power, as well as its use in a semi-automatic mode.

Electromyostimulation from a Clinical Perspective

Sports Medicine, 1988
A proliferation of the research analysis and clinical use of electromyostimulation has occurred in sports medicine in the last decade. This manuscript will review the important findings from a clinical perspective. Specifically, this article will address the advantages of electromyostimulation over voluntary exercise indicating its greater ...

Electromyostimulation Training Effects on Neural Drive and Muscle Architecture

Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, 2005
The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of 4 and 8 wk of electromyostimulation (EMS) training on both muscular and neural adaptations of the knee extensor muscles.Twenty males were divided into the electrostimulated group (EG, N = 12) and the control group (CG, N = 8).
