Verification and experimental validation of neutral atom beam source produced by L-PBF

open access: yesJournal of Physics Communications
We report validation tests of a calcium atomic-beam source fabricated via Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF). The surface quality and elemental composition of the printed component were quantitatively assessed, allowing us to establish reference parameters ...

Overcoming Processability Limitations in Al6082 Alloy by Using Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Aluminum Matrix Composites with Titanium Carbide/Silicon Carbide Reinforcements

open access: yesMetals
The use of aluminum alloys in aerospace is limited by their poor weldability, making many incompatible with additive manufacturing (AM) processes like powder bed fusion—laser beam metal (PBF-LB/M), known as well as laser powder bed fusion.

Tailoring Laser Powder Bed Fusion and Post‐Processing Parameters for JIS SKD61 Tool Steels: Surface Roughness, Microstructure, and Mechanical Properties

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Laser powder bed fusion of JIS SKD61 tool steel is systematically optimized using a Taguchi design and ANOVA. Hatch spacing and layer thickness are identified as dominant parameters controlling surface roughness and tensile strength. Subsequent tempering at 600°C improves microstructural stability and mechanical performance, enabling high‐density SKD61

Fatigue response of as built DMLS processed Maraging Steel and effects of machining and heat and surface treatments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The main motivations for this study arise from the need for an assessment of the fatigue performance of DMLS produced Maraging Steel MS1, when it is used in the \u201cas fabricated\u201d state. The literature indicates a lack of knowledge from this point

Bond strength and interfacial analysis of six CoCr alloys made by conventional casting and selective laser melting

open access: yesJournal of Prosthodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To investigate the effects of the elemental composition and the manufacturing process of cobalt chromium–molybdenum (CoCr–Mo), cobalt chromium–tungsten (CoCr–W), and CoCr–Mo‐W alloys on metal–ceramic bond strength. Materials and Methods Six CoCr‐based alloys were included in this study, a were classified into three different groups ...

Approximation of absorptivity conditions for Inconel 625 from in situ radiation thermometry measurements in electron beam powder bed fusion

open access: yesAdditive Manufacturing Letters
Highly dynamic conditions experienced during metals processing using powder bed fusion (PBF) additive manufacturing (AM) arise from the interaction of multiple process variables.

Recovery of residual powder : For Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yes
Additive manufacturing (AM) allows production of complex parts, which would be hard to produce with conventional methods. Theoretically the technology is also more efficient with minimal material losses. However, with the AMmethod of powder bed fusion electron beam (PBF-EB) it has not yet been fully established if powder can be reused.
