Es wird gezeigt, dass bei geeigneten Verbindungen die Ausstossung der Methylengruppe im Massenspektrum eine bevorzugte Reaktionsweise darstellt. Diese Reaktionsweise gleicht derjenigen der Abgabe von Kohlenmonoxyd aus cyclischen Ketonen oder Chinonen.

Excitation of Be+ by electron impact

A realistic analytic central potential is used to generate wave functions for the ground and excited states of singly-ionized beryllium. Generalized oscillator strengths and integrated cross sections from threshold to 5 keV are calculated in the Born approximation for 2s-ns, 2s-np and 2s-nd excitations.

Electronic Spectroscopy by the Electron Impact Method

A previously constructed variable angle electron-impact spectrometer has been rebuilt and used to study electronic excitation spectra in the energy-loss range from 0 eV to beyond 15 eV for 13 molecules. Spectra were obtained in the impact energy range from 20 eV to 70 eV and for scattering angles from 0° to 80°.

A theory of electron impact polarization observed in a direction normal to the direction of incident electron was developed by Percival and Seaton. Chambe and Henoux modified the expression for Stokes parameterQ so that the polarization in a direction making an angle θ with the direction of impact electron could be calculated.
