Complete numerical solution of electron-hydrogen collisions [PDF]
This thesis presents an extensive computational study of electron-impact scattering and ionisation of atomic hydrogen and hydrogenic ions, which are fundamental to many diverse disciplines, from astrophysics and nuclear fusion to atmospheric physics. The

Electron-impact excitation and ionization of atomic boron at low and intermediate energies
We present a comprehensive study of electron collisions with boron atoms by using the B-spline R-matrix method for electron energies ranging from threshold to 100 eV.

Animals must match their growth rate to available nutrients. We show that in Drosophila larvae, the nutrient‐sensing TOR kinase controls growth by regulating levels of TFAM, a key regulator of mitochondrial function, in the adipose tissue. When nutrients are abundant, high TOR activity suppresses TFAM, lowering mitochondrial bioenergetic activity and ...

Vibrational Excitation of HDO Molecule by Electron Impact
Cross sections and thermally averaged rate coefficients for the vibrational excitation and de-excitation by electron impact on the HDO molecule are computed using a theoretical approach based entirely on first principles.

Excitation of O2 1?g by electron impact
The total and differential cross sections as a function of energy were calculated for electron impact excitation of the O2 1Δ g state from the ground 3 ∑ g ¯ state. The Ochkur-Rudge approximation was used for the exchange amplitude, which was calculated using Hartree-Fock. wave functions with a Gaussian basis.

Liver organoids: modelling complexity in homeostasis and disease
Studying liver in vitro has been challenging because simple 2D cell cultures fail to capture liver's cellular and architectural complexity. To bridge this gap, scientists increasingly use organoids, 3D liver models which better mimic liver composition and function. This review examines recent advances in liver organoid complexity and realism, discusses

Projectile and target excitation in He+ + He collisions at intermediate energies
We present ab initio calculations of cross sections for projectile and target excitation occurring in the course of He+ + He collisions using a three-active-electron semiclassical nonperturbative approach.

This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

Monte Carlo Calculation of Electron Energy Degradation in a Pure O2 Atmosphere
Electron degradation serves as a significant energy source in planetary upper atmospheres. In this study, a Monte Carlo model is constructed to investigate the degradation of electrons in a pure O _2 atmosphere under the local approximation. Both elastic
