Three-photon annihilation of the electron–positron pairs [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics Letters A, 2008
Three-photon annihilation of the electron-positron pairs (= $(e^{-}, e^{+})-$pairs) is considered in the electron rest frame. The energy of the incident positron can be arbitrary. The analytical expression for the cross-section of three-photon annihilation of the $(e^{-},e^{+})-$pair has been derived and investigated.

Hypervision Proton Surgery: The Future Direction of Proton Therapy

open access: yesiNew Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Proton beams provide unique physical advantages characterized by a low entrance dose, negligible exit dose, and a sharp Bragg peak, which enable superior sparing of normal tissues and support safe dose escalation for improved tumor control. However, conventional photon‐based fractionation remains widely used in proton therapy, where prolonged ...

Powers That Be: An Adventure in Metaphysics

open access: yesPhilosophical Investigations, Volume 49, Issue 4, Page 343-348, October 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper is an investigation into the increasingly popular trend amongst philosophers on the metaphysics of powers, exemplified by the statement: ‘To be real is to possess a power to affect (or to be affected by) other things’. First, I briefly trace the history of this idea (from the Eleatic dialectic of ancient times to present day quantum

Photophysics of Distinguished Defect States in Bi2O2Se Thin Films

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 17, 11 September 2026.
An experimental comparison of CVD‐grown Bi2O2Se thin film and films prepared by OTG solution method with similar electrical properties reveals the defects mechanisms in Bi2O2Se thin films via OTG solution method, offering defect engineering strategies for high‐power electronics.

Study of intermittency in electron-positron annihilation into hadrons

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 1989
Abstract Intermittency effects have been studied directly for the first time in e + e − annihilation, using 37 509 hadronic events at an average CM energy of 〈√ s 〉=35 GeV. The factorial moments F 2 , F 3 and F 4 are given for the rapidity distribution and for the two-dimensional distributions in rapidity and azimuthal angle.

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 17, 9 September 2026.
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

Rational design of Ni‐based catalysts for methane dry reforming: Recent advances and future perspectives

open access: yesFlexMat, Volume 3, Issue 3, Page 428-451, September 2026.
Addressing the challenges inherent in dry reforming of methane (DRM), this paper focuses on the structural design and performance optimization of Ni‐based catalysts. The modulation strategies for DRM are systematically reviewed across four dimensions: the micromorphology of active metals, metal‐support interactions, electronic modifications by ...

Quantification of 10B and 11B in Biological Samples in Translational Science and Clinical Applications for Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT)

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, Volume 46, Issue 5, Page 1362-1389, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) is a targeted radiotherapy that exploits the selective accumulation of the 10B isotope within tumors, followed by irradiation with low‐energy neutrons to induce high linear energy transfer particles with short path lengths, resulting in localized tumor cell destruction while sparing surrounding healthy ...

Emerging Metal–Organic Frameworks (MOFs): Synthesis, Bioactivities, Preservation, Active Packaging/Sensing System, and Future Perspectives for Seafood Applications

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, Volume 91, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Seafood is highly susceptible to rapid microbial proliferation, lipid oxidation, and volatile spoilage compound accumulation, resulting in rapid quality deterioration and food waste. Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs), a class of crystalline coordination materials with tunable porosity, high surface area, and diverse metal‐ligand architectures ...
