ELF emissions and relativistic electron precipitation
Journal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, 1984Simultaneous measurement of ELF emissions and bremsstrahlung X rays were made by using a balloon borne experiment flow from Fairbanks, Alaska, on September 30, 1976. Several intense auroral X ray bursts of 2–3 minute duration were detected that have been interpreted to be the result of relativistic electron precipitation (REP).

Boundary‐oriented electron precipitation model
Journal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, 2000A boundary‐oriented model of the global configuration of electrons precipitating into the polar ionosphere is presented. It provides the differential energy flux of precipitating electrons from 32 eV to 30 keV for five different activity levels. Data from 12 years and eight DMSP spacecraft were incorporated into the model.

Electron Microscopy of Hydride Precipitation in Vanadium
Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1971Precipitation of hydride from the solid solution of vanadium-hydrogen containing a small amount of hydrogen was observed at temperatures ranging between 300 K and 77 K using the cold stage of a 500 kV electron microscope. Two types of precipitates were found at low temperatures.

Precipitation of Electrons and Protons into the Atmosphere
1966A precipitated particle is defined here as one whose trajectory at the point of Observation is such that it will plunge from a high altitude into the dense atmosphere, where it most likely will lose all or most of its kinetic energy. A precipitated particle may have once been trapped, but some may also never have been trapped.

Loss of Precipitate Coherency by Electron Irradiation in the High Voltage Electron Microscope
Nature, 1968THE electron microscope contrast associated with almost spherically symmetrical coherent precipitates has been understood for some time1. The contrast results from displacements in the matrix arising from coherency of the precipitate–matrix interface.

Observations of inverted-V electron precipitation
Space Science Reviews, 1982The energy and pitch angle distributions of inverted-V electron precipitation fluxes predominantly determined from Atmosphere Explorer satellite observations are shown to be in general agreement with acceleration by a parallel electrostatic potential. The characteristics of secondary electrons are examined, and the effects of beam plasma instabilities ...

Angular Distributions of Precipitating Electrons
1972For auroral electrons the angular distribution within the loss cone is probably the most sensitive indicator of the mechanism which causes the precipitation. However, in the energy range of a few keV, which generally contains most of the auroral electron flux, only very limited results have been reported to date.

Transmission electron microscopy characterization of precipitates
Ultramicroscopy, 1989Abstract This paper reviews the methods and principles underlying the structural and morphological characterization of precipitates by TEM. Precipitate contrast mechanisms are reduced to the better-known contrast behavior of crystal defects such as dislocation loops, dipoles and stacking faults.

Modification of a theory of electron precipitation pulsations
Journal of Atmospheric and Terrestrial Physics, 1975Abstract The concern of this work is to suggest some improvements in the Coroniti-Kennel theory of electron precipitation pulsations. Some inconsistencies in this theory are remedied by using the relaxation time of the electron velocity distribution as a classifying parameter.

Electron precipitation in the vicinity of a VLF transmitter
Journal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, 1987Using high‐resolution pitch angle measurements made by a magnetic focusing electron spectrometer on the S3‐3 satellite, angular distributions of 235‐keV electrons precipitated in the slot region of the magnetosphere by a ground‐based VLF transmitter are compared with the pitch angle distributions that would be produced by various patterns of ...
