Electron temperature probe

The electron temperature probe (ETP) was invented in Japan in 1970’s. The probe measures the electron temperature accurately and the measurement is not influenced by the electrode contamination. The instrument has low weight, low data transmission bit rate and low power consumption.

Attaining low electron temperatures in electron coolers

Some properties of electron coolers relevant to studies of ion‐electron recombination are reviewed. We discuss the influence of the electron temperature on energy resolution and count rates in recombination experiments and how these have been increased by lowering the transverse electron temperature through adiabatic beam expansion.
