Numerical simulation of an energy-transport model for partially quantized particles [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
A coupled quantum-classical model describing the transport of electrons confined in nanoscale semiconductor devices is considered. Using the subband decomposition approach allows to separate the transport directions from the confinement direction. The motion of the gas in the transport direction is assumed to be classical. Then a hierarchy of adiabatic

FAM136A depletion induces mitochondrial stress and reduces mitochondrial membrane potential and ATP production

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
FAM136A depletion upregulated ROS production, reduced mitochondrial membrane potential (ΔΨ) and ATP production, and upregulated expression of PCK1, PCK2, HMGCS1, and HMGCS2. The expression of both TOMM22 and TOMM20 was also upregulated. FAM136A depletion reduced HCCS that produce holocytochrome c by combining heme to apocytochrome c, and reduced the ...

The effects of electron-electron interactions on the spin transport dynamics of a two-dimensional electron gas [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2000
Spin transport properties of a spin-polarized two-dimensional electron gas are studied in the presence of electron-electron interactions. Longitudinal and transverse spin diffusion coefficients are calculated with the quantum transport equation which includes many-particle effects in the random phase approximation.

Identification of inhibitors of the Salmonella FraB deglycase, a drug target

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A high‐throughput screen was used to identify inhibitors of Salmonella FraB, a drug target. Characterization of top hits (identified after an additional counter screen) revealed that some triazolidines, thiadiazolidines, and triazolothiadiazoles are mixed‐type inhibitors of FraB.

Importance of Initial Electronic State in Two-Dimensional Electron System for Electron Transport from Two-Dimensional Electron Gas to Quantum Dot [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
We have theoretically investigated the time-evolution of electron transport from a two-dimensional electron system (2DES) to a quantum dot (QD). We clearly showed that the coherent electron transport is remarkably modified depending on the initial electronic state in the 2DES. The electron transport from the 2DES to the QD is strongly enhanced when the

Mapping Hsp104 interactions using cross‐linking mass spectrometry

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study examines how cross‐linking mass spectrometry can be utilized to analyze ATP‐induced conformational changes in Hsp104 and its interactions with substrates. We developed an analytical pipeline to distinguish between intra‐ and inter‐subunit contacts within the hexameric homo‐oligomer and discovered contacts between Hsp104 and a selected ...

Cross-field chaotic transport of electrons by $\vec E \times \vec B$ electron drift instability in Hall thrusters [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
One special interest for the industrial development of Hall thruster is characterizing the anomalous cross-field electron transport observed after the channel exit. Since the ionization efficiency is more than 90%, the neutral atom density in that domain is so low that the electron collisions cannot explain the high electron flux observed ...

Alkane biosynthesis gene expression and its increased production in recombinant cyanobacteria

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The transcription and mRNA structures of the alkane biosynthesis genes ado/aar were analysed in the representative cyanobacteria PCC 6803 and SK1‐2‐1, which produce C17H36 and C15H32, respectively. PCC 6803 transconjugants carrying these genes showed a 1.8‐ to 2.3‐fold increase in C17H36 production.

Soman induces endoplasmic reticulum stress and apoptosis of cerebral organoids via the GRP78‐ATF6‐CHOP signaling pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cerebral organoids were employed as a novel model to explore the neurotoxicity of soman. Soman inhibited acetylcholinesterase activity, increased cell apoptosis and upregulated endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress markers glucose‐regulated protein 78 (GRP78), activating transcription factor 6 (ATF6) and C/EBP homologous protein (CHOP).
