Mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation is stimulated by red light irradiation
Light at different wavelengths has distinct effects on keratinocyte viability and metabolism. UVA light abrogates metabolic fluxes. Blue and green light have no effect on metabolic fluxes, while red light enhanced oxidative phosphorylation by promoting fatty acid oxidation. Keratinocytes are the primary constituents of sunlight‐exposed epidermis.

We show that the failure of the Delaney-Greer (DG) variational ansatz for transport demonstrated by us in Phys.\ Rev.\ B {\bf 80}, 165301 (2009) (I) is not related to an unsuitable constraint that prevents a broken time-reversal symmetry or to real ...

Transport suppression in heterostructures driven by an ac gate voltage [PDF]
We explore the possibility of inducing in heterostructures driven by an ac gate voltage the coherent current suppression recently found for nanoscale conductors in oscillating fields.

A nucleotide‐independent, pan‐RAS‐targeted DARPin elicits anti‐tumor activity in a multimodal manner
We report a Designed Ankyrin Repeat Protein that binds and inhibits RAS proteins, which serve as central cell signaling hubs and are essential for the progression of many cancers. Its unique feature is that it does not discriminate between different RAS isoforms or mutations and is capable of binding to RAS in both its active (GTP‐bound) and inactive ...

Amyloid-beta Leads to Impaired Cellular Respiration, Energy Production and Mitochondrial Electron Chain Complex Activities in Human Neuroblastoma Cells [PDF]
Evidence suggests that amyloid-beta (Aβ) protein is a key factor in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and it has been recently proposed that mitochondria are involved in the biochemical pathway by which Aβ can lead to neuronal dysfunction ...

Numerically exact, time-dependent study of correlated electron transport in model molecular junctions [PDF]
The multilayer multiconfiguration time-dependent Hartree theory within second quantization representation of the Fock space is applied to study correlated electron transport in models of single-molecule junctions.

Small extracellular vesicles are a promising source of diagnostic molecules. We conducted a comprehensive study, including transcriptome profiling and RT‐qPCR validation on large cohorts of samples. Diagnostic panels enabling sensitive detection of colorectal cancer and precancerous lesions were established. Some molecules were differentially expressed
