Selective molecular oxygen transport through a cellulose acetate membrane containing an electron-poor iron(II) porphyrin complexes

open access: closedKorean Journal of Chemical Engineering, 1993
Molecular oxygen diffusion in the cellulose acetate membranes containing the 5,10,15, 20-tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)-21H,23H-porphine iron(II) was studied. Both the permeability coefficient and the separation factor for oxygen in the membrane containing the iron(II) porphyrin complex were increased with decreasing the upstream gas pressure which ...

Electron transport dynamics in thin polymer films containing tris(2,2′-bipyridine)osmium(III/II) complexes

open access: closedJournal of Electroanalytical Chemistry and Interfacial Electrochemistry, 1987
Abstract Rotating carbon disk electrodes were modified by a random copolymer (PSS-PVP) of styrenesulfonate and 4-vinylpyridine. The polymer was spincoated onto the electrodes, crosslinked by reaction with 1,2-dibromoethane, then loaded with Os(bpy)2+3 by ion exchange.

Synthesis and luminescent properties of Cu(II), Zn(II) polymeric complexes with electron- and hole-transporting groups

open access: closedJournal of Luminescence, 2007
Abstract A novel ligand 3,6-bis(1,10-phenathroline-[5,6-d] imidazole-2-yl)carbazole (Bpic) containing hole- and electron-transporting groups was firstly designed. Its polymeric complexes of Bpic with Cu(∥), Zn(∥) were successfully synthesized. The UV-vis absorption, fluorescence spectra and thermal properties of these complexes were investigated.

Inhibition of Photosynthetic Electron Transport by UV-A Radiation Targets the Photosystem II Complex¶

open access: closedPhotochemistry and Photobiology, 2007
We have studied the inhibition of photosynthetic electron transport by UV-A (320-400 nm) radiation in isolated spinach thylakoids. Measurements of Photosystem II (PSII) and Photosystem I activity by Clark-type oxygen electrode demonstrated that electron flow is impaired primarily in PSII.

Design of redox systems for the selective transport of electrons across liquid membranes: nickel(II,III) tetraaza macrocyclic complexes

open access: closedJournal of the American Chemical Society, 1989
The complexes NiLX 2 (L=N-cetylcyclam; X=Cl, ClO 4 ) have been synthesized to be used as carriers for the transport of electrons across a CH 2 Cl 2 bulk liquid membrane, through the Ni II /Ni III redox change. Two-phase (water/dichloromethane) experiments have shown that aqueous peroxydisulfate ion is able to oxidize Ni II LCl 2 , but not Ni II L ...

Synthesis and green luminescent properties of Cu(II), Zn(II) polymeric complexes containing triphenylamine as hole-transporting unit and 1,10-phenanthroline derivative as electron-transporting unit

open access: closedMaterials Letters, 2009
Abstract New polymeric metal complexes containing triphenylamine as hole-transporting unit and 1,10-phenanthroline derivative as electron-transporting unit, 4,4′-bis([1,10]phenanthroline-[5,6-d]imidazol-N-octyl-2-yl) triphenylamine with copper (II) and zinc (II), were prepared and characterized by FT-IR, elemental Analysis, conductivity measurement ...

STUDIES ON PHOTOACTIVATED ELCTRON-TRANSPORT SYSTEMS. II. ELECTRON-TRANSFER QUENCHING OF PHOTOEXCITED RUTHENIUM(II) COMPLEXES BY VARIOUS BIPYRIDINIUM IONS

open access: closedChemistry Letters, 1978
Abstract Rate constants for quenching emission from photoexcited tris-(2,2′-bipyridine)- and tris(1,10-phenanthroline)Ru(II) complexes by bipyridinium ion vary with the redox potential of the quencher. Annihilation of the geminate ion pairs at the quenching step can be reduced by the addition of EDTA.

The Effects of Cationic Antiseptics on Spectral Characteristics and Electron Transport in Isolated Photosynthetic Complexes of Photosystems I and II

open access: closedBiophysics
The effects of cationic antiseptics (used in micromolar concentrations) on active PS II core complexes isolated from spinach plants with an intact water oxidation complex and on PS I core complexes from the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC6803 were studied.

Studies of the Electron Transport Chain of the Euryarcheon Halobacterium salinarum: Indications for a Type II NADH Dehydrogenase and a Complex III Analog

open access: closedJournal of Bioenergetics and Biomembranes, 1998
The components involved in the respiratory system of the euryarcheon Halobacterium salinarum were investigated by spectroscopic and polarographic techniques. Previous results about the cytochrome composition could be verified. However, under low oxygen tension, the expression of a d-type cytochrome was detected.
