Connectivity between electron transport complexes and modulation of photosystem II activity in chloroplasts

open access: closedPhotosynthesis Research, 2017
In chloroplasts, photosynthetic electron transport complexes interact with each other via the mobile electron carriers (plastoquinone and plastocyanin) which are in surplus amounts with respect to photosystem I and photosystem II (PSI and PSII), and the cytochrome b 6 f complex.

Structure-(Dys)function Relationships in Mitochondrial Electron Transport Chain Complex II?

open access: closedScience of Aging Knowledge Environment, 2003
It has been postulated that mitochondrially derived reactive oxygen species (ROS) play a major causative role in aging processes. The primary sources of these oxidants are believed to be complexes I and III of the electron transport chain, with little evidence supporting oxidant formation at complex II (succinate dehydrogenase).

Depressed mitochondrial function and electron transport Complex II-mediated H 2 O 2 production in the cortex of type 1 diabetic rodents

open access: closedMolecular and Cellular Neuroscience, 2018
Abnormalities in mitochondrial function under diabetic conditions can lead to deficits in function of cortical neurons and their support cells exhibiting a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of several neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer's disease.

Studies of the electron transport chain of the euryarcheon Halobacterium salinarum: indications for a type II NADH dehydrogenase and a complex III analog. [PDF]

open access: closedJournal of Bioenergetics and Biomembranes, 1998
The components involved in the respiratory system of the euryarcheon Halobacterium salinarum were investigated by spectroscopic and polarographic techniques. Previous results about the cytochrome composition could be verified. However, under low oxygen tension, the expression of a d-type cytochrome was detected.

Synthesis and luminescent properties of Cu(II), Zn(II) polymeric complexes with electron- and hole-transporting groups

open access: closedJournal of Luminescence, 2007
Abstract A novel ligand 3,6-bis(1,10-phenathroline-[5,6-d] imidazole-2-yl)carbazole (Bpic) containing hole- and electron-transporting groups was firstly designed. Its polymeric complexes of Bpic with Cu(∥), Zn(∥) were successfully synthesized. The UV-vis absorption, fluorescence spectra and thermal properties of these complexes were investigated.

Electron transport of bis(terpyridine)iron(II) complex wires on a semiconducting electrode

open access: closedJournal of Electroanalytical Chemistry, 2016
Abstract The electron transport phenomena of ferrocene- and triarylamine-terminated bis(terpyridine)iron(II) complex wires on p-type silicon(111) electrodes were electrochemically investigated. The ferrocene unit at the terminus of the wire exhibited the large redox peak separation in cyclic voltammogram indicating the slow electron transport, while ...
