Impaired complex III activity and reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation in mitochondria have been identified as key events leading to renal damage during diabetes. Due to its high content of oleic acid and antioxidants, we aimed to test whether avocado oil may attenuate the alterations in electron transfer at complex III induced by diabetes by a ...

The present work reports a tripodal scaffold for bis(terpyridine)-Fe(II) oligomer wires on an Au(111) surface: the tripodal scaffold realised both orthogonality of the oligomer wires, and fast interfacial electron transfer through the oligomer wires.

We have studied the inhibition of photosynthetic electron transport by UV-A (320-400 nm) radiation in isolated spinach thylakoids. Measurements of Photosystem II (PSII) and Photosystem I activity by Clark-type oxygen electrode demonstrated that electron flow is impaired primarily in PSII.

Abstract Rotating carbon disk electrodes were modified by a random copolymer (PSS-PVP) of styrenesulfonate and 4-vinylpyridine. The polymer was spincoated onto the electrodes, crosslinked by reaction with 1,2-dibromoethane, then loaded with Os(bpy)2+3 by ion exchange.

Abstract Rate constants for quenching emission from photoexcited tris-(2,2′-bipyridine)- and tris(1,10-phenanthroline)Ru(II) complexes by bipyridinium ion vary with the redox potential of the quencher. Annihilation of the geminate ion pairs at the quenching step can be reduced by the addition of EDTA.

A library of (η6‐p‐cymene)Ru(II) and Ru(II) bis‐bpy complexes bearing thiazolhidrazinylidene‐chroman‐2,4‐dione was synthesized, characterized, and the molecules are evaluated for their antibacterial activity and cytotoxicity. From this library, several compounds are identified as being active against Methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus aureus and ...

AbstractMitochondria are indispensable in maintaining hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), and mitochondrial complex II (MCII) has been recognized as a key component of HSCs. However, the physiological role of MCII on long-term hematopoiesis and hematopoietic reconstitution capacity remains unknown.
