Flexible Power Electronic Transformer

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2010
This paper proposes a new modular flexible power electronic transformer (FPET). The proposed FPET is flexible enough to meet future needs of power electronic centralized systems. The main feature of the FPET is the independent operation of modules each of which contains one port.

Power Electronic Traction Transformer—Medium Voltage Prototype

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2014
Recently, the world's first ever power electronic traction transformer (PETT) for a 15-kV 16.7-Hz railway grid has been newly developed, commissioned, and installed on the test locomotive, where the PETT is presently in use. The design and development of the PETT are described in two parts of this paper.

A Multiport Power Electronic Transformer with Shared Medium-frequency Transformer

IECON 2020 The 46th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2020
The existing power electronic transformer (PET) topologies are governed by the low power density, high cost and large size. Therefore, a multiport PET topology based on modular multilevel converter with the shared medium-frequency transformer (MFT) is proposed in this paper, where the proposed PET can provide four voltage interfaces, including medium ...

Power electronics traction transformer

2007 European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications, 2007
With the new generation of full low floor passenger trains, the constraints of weight and size on the traction transformer are becoming stronger. The ultimate target weight for the transformer is 1 kg/kVA. The reliability and the efficiency are also becoming more important.

Design of an electronic power transformer

IEEE 2002 28th Annual Conference of the Industrial Electronics Society. IECON 02, 2003
For the distribution of electrical energy in Germany, application-specific transformers with ratings of 110/20 kV, 110/10kV, 40 MVA, 50 Hz are typically in operation. Due to their weight, these transformers can only be transported with great expense (usually by rail).

Power quality coefficients for power electronic transformers

2016 17th International Conference of Young Specialists on Micro/Nanotechnologies and Electron Devices (EDM), 2016
This paper proposes three basic configurations of power electronic transformer for distributive networks. Power electronic transformers have a number of essential advantages in comparison to power low-frequency transformers. The configurations proposed include different types of output inverters.

A simple modular active power electronic transformer

2014 IEEE 23rd International Symposium on Industrial Electronics (ISIE), 2014
The current project was originally initiated by the marine industry, where bulky low-frequency transformers have become a growing problem. The need for an alternative that is more flexible and would also support the micro grid concept has become a priority.

Parallel operation of electronic power transformer and conventional transformer

2008 Third International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies, 2008
The idea that the secondary voltage of the conventional transformer is selected as the reference voltage of electronic power transformer - EPT's output voltage is proposed on the base of the analysis of parallel principle of EPT and conventional transformer in this paper, in order to eliminate the circulation current and the power unbalance resulted ...

Modular multilevel power electronic transformer

2015 9th International Conference on Power Electronics and ECCE Asia (ICPE-ECCE Asia), 2015
In this paper, a modular multilevel power electronic transformer structure for power distribution system is discussed. The proposed structure consists of two completely decoupled power stages. Modular multilevel converter is adopted as the front-end ac-dc stage to convert the medium ac voltage to medium dc voltage, or vice versa. Galvanic isolation and
