Workflow for Design of Experiments‐Based Modeling of Species Transport and Growth Kinetics in GaN Hydride Vapor Phase Epitaxy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel workflow for investigating hydride vapor phase epitaxy for GaN bulk crystal growth is proposed. It combines Design of experiments (DoE) with physical simulations of mass transport and crystal growth kinetics, serving as an intermediate step between DoE and experiments.

A Comparative Computational Study of the Solidification Kinetic Coefficients for the Soft-Sphere BCC-Melt and the FCC-Melt Interfaces

open access: yesCrystals
Using the non-equilibrium molecular dynamics (NEMD) simulations and the time-dependent Ginzburg–Landau (TDGL) theory for solidification kinetics, we study the crystal-melt interface (CMI) kinetic coefficients for both the soft-sphere (SS) BCC-melt and ...

Cathodic Cage Plasma Deposition of Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se Coatings on Poly(methyl Methacrylate)

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se coatings are deposited on PMMA by a modified cathodic cage plasma process, enabling low‐temperature deposition on polymer substrates. A transition from discontinuous to compact morphology is observed with temperature, with optimal properties at 200°C, where improved CuFeSe2‐type bonding, lowest sheet resistance, and favorable ...

Electronic spectroscopy of trapped pah photofragments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The PIRENEA set-up combines an ion cyclotron resonance cell mass spectrometer with cryogenic cooling in order to study the physical and chemical properties of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) of astrophysical interest. In space, PAHs are submitted

A new route for laser cooling and trapping of cold molecules: Intensity-gradient cooling of MgF molecules using localized hollow beams

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2020
We propose a promising scheme to prepare ultracold MgF molecules from a slowed cold molecular beam by using three-dimensional pure intensity-gradient induced Sisyphus cooling.

Structural Characterization of Polyglutamine Fibrils by Solid-State NMR Spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Protein aggregation via polyglutamine stretches occurs in a number of severe neurodegenerative diseases such as Huntington's disease. We have investigated fibrillar aggregates of polyglutamine peptides below, at, and above the toxicity limit of around 37
