Large‐Diameter DNA‐Scaffolded Nanopores Enabled by Loosely Packed Peptides for Single‐Molecule Sensing

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A nanopore composed of transmembrane peptides and a DNA scaffold that assists peptide assembly was constructed. By employing peptides containing the unnatural amino acid 2‐aminoisobutyric acid (Aib), which promotes loose packing between helices, a large‐diameter nanopore was achieved.

Cytoplasmic electric fields and electroosmosis: possible solution for the paradoxes of the intracellular transport of biomolecules.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
The objective of the paper is to show that electroosmotic flow might play an important role in the intracellular transport of biomolecules. The paper presents two mathematical models describing the role of electroosmosis in the transport of the ...

Joule Heating Effects on Transport-Induced-Charge Phenomena in an Ultrathin Nanopore

open access: yesMicromachines, 2020
Transport-induced-charge (TIC) phenomena, in which the concentration imbalance between cations and anions occurs when more than two chemical potential gradients coexist within an ultrathin dimension, entail numerous nanofluidic systems.

On steady two-fluid electroosmotic flow with full interfacial electrostatics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A two-fluid electroosmotic flow in a microchannel is studied by considering full hydrodynamic and electrostatic interactions on the interface. Jumps in electrical potential and in charge density across the interface, in particular, are found to create ...

Solution of Time Periodic Electroosmosis Flow with Slip Boundary

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
Recent research confirms that slip of a fluid on the solid surface occurs at micrometer scale. Slip on solid surface may cause the change of interior material deformation which consequently leads to the change of velocity profile and stress field.

Numerical Analysis of the Heterogeneity Effect on Electroosmotic Micromixers Based on the Standard Deviation of Concentration and Mixing Entropy Index

open access: yesMicromachines, 2021
One approach to achieve a homogeneous mixture in microfluidic systems in the quickest time and shortest possible length is to employ electroosmotic flow characteristics with heterogeneous surface properties.
