Victivallis vadensis gen. nov., sp. nov., a sugar-fermenting anaerobe from human faeces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
A novel strictly anaerobic, cellobiose-degrading bacterium, strain Cello, was isolated from a human faecal sample by combining enrichments in liquid and soft-agar basal media.

Filter Retardation Assay for Detecting and Quantifying Polyglutamine Aggregates Using Caenorhabditis elegans Lysates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Protein aggregation is a hallmark of several neurodegenerative diseases and is associated with impaired protein homeostasis. This imbalance is caused by the loss of the protein's native conformation, which ultimately results in its aggregation or ...

Daphnia species and the genetic characteristics of their populations based on allozyme studies in Lake Balaton, Hungary [PDF]

open access: yesOpuscula Zoologica Instituti Zoosystematici et Oecologici Universitatis Budapestinensis, 2007
The Daphnia species of Lake Balaton have long been studied; however there was no consensus on the species composition. In this paper we attempted to clarify their specific status using allozyme electrophoresis.

MagPiezo: A Magnetogenetic Platform for Remote Activation of Endogenous Piezo1 Channels in Endothelial Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MagPiezo enables wireless activation of endogenous Piezo1 channels without genetic modification using 19 nm magnetic nanoparticles and low‐intensity magnetic fields. It generates torque forces at the piconewton scale to trigger mechanotransduction in endothelial cells, standing as a novel platform to interrogate and manipulate Piezo1 activity in vitro.
