Factors influencing power consumption and power-saving measures in ESR process [PDF]
Since the USA patent of electroslag remelting (ESR) metallurgy was held by P. K. Hopkins in 1940, the ESR technology has now entered a relatively mature stage after a 70-year history of development.

Effect of the Al2O3 Content in the Slag on the Remelting Behavior of a Bearing Steel
The influence of the Al2O3 content in the remelting slag on chemical reactions and the formation of nonmetallic inclusions (NMIs) during electroslag remelting of a bearing steel is focused. In addition, numerical simulations on the NMI‐formation are presented, allowing for a better understanding how the type of NMI can be adjusted.

Effect of Different Power Supply Modes on Inclusion in 304L Stainless Steel Electroslag Ingot
The use of low frequency or DC (i.e., direct current) operation in the electroslag remelting process may lead to the electrolysis of some oxides in the slag pool, which will adversely affect the cleanliness of the electroslag ingot.

A Method for Parameter Identification of Combined Integrating Systems
This manuscript presents a novel structure of combined integration in the process industry and proposes an efficient method for identifying its parameters. Combined integrating processes are delay‐time processes that widely exist in the industry. Conventional identification methods have a low‐identification accuracy, a large vibration amplitude of the ...

Effective Electroslag Remelting of Superalloys
In order to take full advantage of electroslag remelting, it is necessary to optimize the most important properties, such as structure, chemical uniformity and inclusion control by careful choice of the remelt parameters, since these properties essentially determine the acceptability of the final part.

Tool steels tested under injection molding conditions with glass‐fiber‐reinforced polymers, revealing how viscous dissipation drives hardness loss, even in PM grades. A sharp rise in wear with increasing injection volume rate and thermomechanical load uncovers striking material differences.

Tailored heat treatments transform additively manufactured high‐nitrogen martensitic Cr steel from austenitic as‐built condition to high‐hardness states. Isothermal bainitizing at 250°C generates an ultrafine nanostructure and achieves higher hardness than conventional hardening and tempering, highlighting a promising postprocessing route for laser ...
