Production of Electroslag Remelted Hollow Ingots
The development of a production process for the electroslag remelting of hollow shapes has been described. ESR hollows 21" O.D. x 10" I.D. and 16" O.D. x 10" I.D. have been produced. The hot workability of both sizes was found to be excellent, based on Gleeble hot ductility studies as well as actual forging and rolling experiments.
