Copper(II), a Peculiar Metal Ion for Complexation with Monensin A Ionophore
Chemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.Copper(II) forms three chiral and EPR‐active complexes with monensinate A in methanol. Beside the bis [CuL2] and mono [CuL]+ species, the new dinuclear construct [Cu2L]3+ exhibits an [ML]+‐type and a metal salt‐type copper(II) centers weakly bound to each other through counter ion(s) and thus, being magnetically independent.

Chemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.5‐Substituted 2‐(naphthalen‐2‐yl)‐4H‐chromen‐4‐ones are reported as a novel class of highly potent and selective triplex DNA ligands. These ligands induce triplex formation at submicromolar concentrations and inhibit enzymatic activity via ligand‐mediated triplex formation.

Chemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.Ir pincer complexes bearing a triazole architecture in the pincer backbone and O‐ancillary chelating ligands are presented. These were employed in the catalytic transfer dehydrogenation of alkanes as well as of saturated heterocycles. Reactivity of these complexes with silver salts and Lewis acids produced various cationic iridium complexes.
