Charge transport mechanisms in corona charged polymeric materials

open access: yes, 2013
Polymeric materials have been widely used as an insulator due to their excellent electrical properties, light weight and low cost. Surface potential measurement is one of the simplest and low cost tools to gauge electrical properties of materials.

Electrostatic-Dominated Conformational Fluctuations and Transition States of Phase Separation in Charge-Balanced Protein Polymer

open access: yes
Hydration of the protein/polymer is the most important aspect of stability. It is well-known that salts alter the charged polymer’s electrostatic forces, ultimately impacting its conformations in solution.

Regularization of the electrostatics problem for three spheres and an electrostatic charge

open access: yesV. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. Ser. Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 2020
A numerical-analytical algorithm for investigation of the potential of a sphere with a circular hole, surrounded by external and internal closed ribbon spheres, is constructed. The number of ribbons on the spheres is arbitrary. The ribbons on the spheres are separated by non-conductive, infinitely thin partitions.

Natural Bone‐Derived Ceramic Scaffolds Functionalized with Chitosan‐Gold, Chitosan‐Magnesium, and Chitosan‐Zinc for Enhanced Antibacterial Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports the development of antibacterial ceramic scaffolds derived from natural bovine bone. The bones were processed through sequential boiling and hydrogen peroxide treatment to remove organic matter, producing porous, mineral‐rich scaffolds.

Design and numerical simulation of the real-time particle charge and size analyser

open access: yes, 2012
The electrostatic charge and size distribution of aerosol particles play a very important role in many industrial applications. Due to the complexity and the probabilistic nature of the different charging mechanisms often acting simultaneously, it is ...

Molecular Dynamics Studies of Shape Memory Polymers: From Bead–Spring Models to Atomistic Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...

Charge-Optimized Electrostatic Interaction Atom-Centered Neural Network Algorithm

open access: yes
Machine-learning algorithms have been proposed to capture electrostatic interactions by using effective partial charges. These algorithms often rely on a pretrained model for partial charge prediction using density functional theory-calculated partial ...
