DERMATITIS AGGRAVATED BY ELECTROSTATIC CHARGES

Archives of Dermatology, 1955
The case of a man with dermatitis of the hands and arms definitely aggravated by electrostatic sparking while driving an automobile is here reported. I do not agree with the patient that it is the sole cause of his condition, but I do believe that it was a major contributory irritant.

Electrostatic interactions at charged lipid membranes. Electrostatically induced tilt

Biochemistry, 1979
The changes in bilayer structure induced by surface charges in the case of an ionizable lipid were studied by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and film-balance measurements. With increasing surface charge in the ordered phase, the X-ray results show a decrease in bilayer thickness, whereas the hydrocarbon chain packing stays essentially constant,

Electrostatic Charging and Precipitation of Diesel Soot

2009 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2009
Exhaust treatment systems consisting of new catalyst technologies and particulate filters is indispensable to meet increasingly stringent global regulations limiting particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxide (NOX) emissions from heavy duty and light duty diesel vehicles.

Electrostatic Surface Charging by Water Dewetting

Langmuir
Water dewetting generates static electricity. We reviewed historical experiments of this phenomenon, and we studied the charging of polymer slides and metal electrode supported polymer films withdrawn vertically from a pool of aqueous solutions. For pure water, charging was negative and surface charge densities increased with the speed of dewetting ...

Sperm Selection Based on Electrostatic Charge

2012
Charge is a fundamental property of all forms of matter that exhibit attraction or repulsion in the presence of another charged particle. This electrokinetic property occurs when the particles exhibiting a net negative or positive charge are subjected to an external electric field that exerts an electrostatic force between them. Sperm surface membranes
