The two sides of complement C3d: evolution of electrostatics in a link between innate and adaptive immunity.

open access: yesPLoS Computational Biology, 2012
The interaction between complement fragment C3d and complement receptor 2 (CR2) is a key aspect of complement immune system activation, and is a component in a link between innate and adaptive immunities.

Ionic Magnetic COFs Loaded with GOx for Cascade Reaction of Nanoenzymes and Natural Enzymes

open access: yesTaiyuan Ligong Daxue xuebao, 2023
Purposes Combining the high selectivity of natural enzymes with the high stability of nanoenzymes in a one-pot reaction has emerged as an ideal solution to improving the diversity/complexity of biocatalytic cascades and the stability of multi-enzyme ...

Polyelectrolyte adsorption: Chemical and electrostatic interactions [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2004
Mean-field theory is used to model polyelectrolyte adsorption and the possibility of overcompensation of charged surfaces. For charged surfaces that are also chemically attractive, the overcharging is large in high salt conditions, amounting to 20-40% of the bare surface charge.

Charge density view on bicalutamide molecular interactions in the monoclinic polymorph and androgen receptor binding pocket

open access: yesIUCrJ, 2020
High-resolution single-crystal X-ray measurements of the monoclinic polymorph of bicalutamide and the aspherical atom databank approach have served as a basis for a reconstruction of the charge density distribution of the drug and its androgen receptor ...

Where Electrostatics Matter: Bacterial Surface Neutralization and Membrane Disruption by Antimicrobial Peptides SAAP-148 and OP-145

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2022
The need for alternative treatment of multi-drug-resistant bacteria led to the increased design of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs). AMPs exhibit a broad antimicrobial spectrum without a distinct preference for a specific species.

Boundary Condition of Polyelectrolyte Adsorption [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The modification of the boundary condition for polyelectrolyte adsorption on charged surface with short-ranged interaction is investigated under two regimes. For weakly charged Gaussian polymer in which the short-ranged attraction dominates, the boundary

Electrostatic Steering Accelerates C3d:CR2 Association. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Electrostatic effects are ubiquitous in protein interactions and are found to be pervasive in the complement system as well. The interaction between complement fragment C3d and complement receptor 2 (CR2) has evolved to become a link between innate and ...

Interaction dynamics of electrostatic solitary waves [PDF]

open access: yesNonlinear Processes in Geophysics, 1999
Interaction of nonlinear electrostatic pulses associated with electron phase density holes moving in a collisionless plasma is studied. An elementary event of the interaction is analyzed on the basis of the energy balance in the system consisting of two ...

Electrostatic interaction energy between two coaxial parallel uniformly charged disks

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2019
We calculate exactly the electrostatic interaction energy between two coaxial parallel uniformly charged infinitely thin disks. For the sake of generality, it is assumed that the disks have different radii and contain different amounts of total electric ...

Partitioning of fluoxetine into mixed lipid bilayer containing 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoglycerol (DPPG) and 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DSPC)

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Science, Technology and Engineering, 2022
In this study, the partitioning of fluoxetine, an antidepressant of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor class into a mixture containing anionic and zwitterionic lipid vesicles was evaluated using second derivative spectrophotometry.
