Display Applications of Electrowetting
Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology, 2012Abstract A reflective display device based on electrowetting technology exhibits high reflection index over 40% and contrast ratio over 15 (conventional paper has reflection index of 60% and contrast index of 15). In addition to the attractive optical properties, this technology manifests a fast video response rate (

Influence of fluoropolymer surface wettability on electrowetting display performance
Displays, 2018Amorphous fluoropolymer (FP), as a material for both insulating and hydrophobic coating, plays an essential role in electrowetting displays (EWD). In this work, three FPs based on Teflon AF1600, Hyflon AD60 and Cytop 809A were studied according to their influence on the EWD performance.

Reflective display device based on electrowetting
2008 9th International Conference on Solid-State and Integrated-Circuit Technology, 2008In recent years, reflective display devices based on electrowetting have attracted increasing interest in flat-plate display community. By controlling a colored oil film electrically, display elements of high response speed and stable intermediate optical states could be obtained.

Journal of the Society for Information Display, 2019
AbstractThe electrowetting display (EWD) has a low gray level, and there are some phenomena that affect the display quality, such as oil backflow and charge trapping. In this paper, an error diffusion algorithm based on pixel neighborhood gray information and direct current (DC)‐balanced driving waveform are proposed for display quality of EWD.

Dynamics of electrowetting displays
Journal of Applied Physics, 1981In this paper we analyze the dynamics of a model electrowetting display (EWD) system, derive the operating parameters, and discuss the device performance. To discuss the problem we generalize the Washburn-Yarnold treatment for the motion of a liquid slug in a capillary tube.

Bistable electrowetting displays
SPIE Newsroom, 2011The electrowetting D³ technology ("Droplet-Driven-Displays") was invented by ADT. Those displays have features like bistability and highest reflectivity, which offer unique application options for real "No Power ("green") applications ranging from indicators to billboards.

Electrowetting on Paper for Electronic Paper Display
ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2010The use of paper as a material for various device applications (such as microfluidics and energy storage) is very attractive given its flexibility, versatility, and low cost. Here we demonstrate that electrowetting (EW) devices can be readily fabricated on paper substrates.

PROTOTYPE OF DISPLAY BASED ON ELECTROWETTING EFFECT
Materials of the 26th All-Russian Youth Scientific Conference, 2023It is shown that when using a two-layer photoresist-Teflon dielectric, the latter has a high affinity for the dye used (the dye in a water environment wets the teflon surface), which allows it to be localized in a given location and thereby form display cells.

Flat electrowetting optics and displays
SPIE Proceedings, 2008Flat electrowetting optics currently include pixel arrays for displays and prism arrays for beam steering. Electrowetting display pixels utilize a colored oil layer that provides high efficiency control of light transmission or light reflection. Electrowetting microprisms tilt the angle of the meniscus between liquids with different refractive index ...

'No power' (green) electrowetting display
SPIE Proceedings, 2011Electrowetting displays were first reported in 1981, several approaches were examined. However, ADT's "Droplet- Driven-Displays" technology is the only bistable one which makes them very attractive for energy-saving systems. That means that the power supply can completely shut off after changing the content and it will keep its information for years.
