A novel driver for active matrix electrowetting displays
Displays, 2015Abstract Electrowetting display (EWD) is a reflective display technology in which fluidic pixels can response and switch quickly by electronic control, showing the capability for video-speed reflective display applications. In this paper, a new driver system is proposed and realized for video playing function of active matrix electrowetting display ...

P‐111: Novel Electrowetting Displays
SID Symposium Digest of Technical Papers, 2007Abstract Novel Displays have been developed using the effect of moving a droplet by electrowetting. This approach enables bi‐stable and high reflective monochrome and color displays which could also be made on plastic substrates. Prototypes show promising performance in terms of contrast ratio, gray scale and color.

What Is the Microfluidics Doing in Electrowetting Displays?
CLEO: 2015, 2015Electrowetting display (EWD) is realized by electrically driven fluidic flow in micropixels. The fluidic properties including interfacial tension, viscosity and conductivity have been investigated to understand the dual-phase fluidic behavior in micro-pixels of EWDs.

3D electrohydrodynamic simulation of electrowetting displays
Journal of Micromechanics and Microengineering, 2014The fluid dynamic behavior within a pixel of an electrowetting display (EWD) is thoroughly investigated through a 3D simulation. By coupling the electrohydrodynamic (EHD) force deduced from the Maxwell stress tensor with the laminar phase field of the oil–water dual phase, the complete switch processes of an EWD, including the break-up and the ...

Analysis of Nonaqueous Electrowetting Fluids for Displays
Journal of Display Technology, 2011Water remains the most extensively studied electrowetting fluid, but few reports exist on nonaqueous conducting solvents. Reported herein is a complete analysis of alternate fluids for electrowetting devices and displays. Emphasis is provided on real-world testing parameters, including contact angle response and immiscibility with oil, environmental ...
