Analysis of the Element-Free Galerkin Method with Penalty for Stokes Problems [PDF]

open access: yesEntropy, 2022
The element-free Galerkin (EFG) method with penalty for Stokes problems is proposed and analyzed in this work. A priori error estimates of the penalty method, which is used to deal with Dirichlet boundary conditions, are derived to illustrate its ...

Evaluation of coupled finite element/meshfree method for a robust full-scale crashworthiness simulation of railway vehicles [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2016
The crashworthiness of a railway vehicle relates to its passive safety performance. Due to mesh distortion and difficulty in controlling the hourglass energy, conventional finite element methods face great challenges in crashworthiness simulation of ...

Bernstein polynomials in element-free Galerkin method [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 2011
In the recent decades, meshless methods (MMs), like the element-free Galerkin method (EFGM), have been widely studied and interesting results have been reached when solving partial differential equations.

A comparison between the improved element-free Galerkin method and the element-free Galerkin method for 2D potential and elasticity problems

open access: yesComputer Assisted Methods in Engineering and Science, 2017
In this paper, a comparison between the improved element-free Galerkin (IEFG) method, based on the improved moving least square (IMLS) approximation, and the element-free Galerkin (EFG) method, based on the moving least square (MLS) approximation, is ...

The Improved Element-Free Galerkin Method for 3D Helmholtz Equations

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
The improved element-free Galerkin (IEFG) method is proposed in this paper for solving 3D Helmholtz equations. The improved moving least-squares (IMLS) approximation is used to establish the trial function, and the penalty technique is used to enforce ...

On Interpolative Meshless Analysis of Orthotropic Elasticity

open access: yesBuildings, 2023
As one possible alternative to the finite element method, the interpolation characteristic is a key property that meshless shape functions aspire to. Meanwhile, the interpolation meshless method can directly impose essential boundary conditions, which is

The Improved Element-Free Galerkin Method for 3D Steady Convection-Diffusion-Reaction Problems with Variable Coefficients

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
In order to obtain the numerical results of 3D convection-diffusion-reaction problems with variable coefficients efficiently, we select the improved element-free Galerkin (IEFG) method instead of the traditional element-free Galerkin (EFG) method by ...

A Dimension Splitting Generalized Interpolating Element-Free Galerkin Method for the Singularly Perturbed Steady Convection–Diffusion–Reaction Problems

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
By introducing the dimension splitting method (DSM) into the generalized element-free Galerkin (GEFG) method, a dimension splitting generalized interpolating element-free Galerkin (DS-GIEFG) method is presented for analyzing the numerical solutions of ...

Locking in the incompressible limit for the element‐free Galerkin method [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2001
AbstractVolumetric locking (locking in the incompressible limit) for linear elastic isotropic materials is studied in the context of the element‐free Galerkin method. The modal analysis developed here shows that the number of non‐physical locking modes is independent of the dilation parameter (support of the interpolation functions).
