On boundary conditions in the element-free Galerkin method
Computational Mechanics, 1997The problem of accuracte imposition of essential boundary conditions in the element free Galerkin method is discussed. Using this method some difficulties often occur, because the moving least squares interpolants used in this method lack the delta function property of the usual finite element or boundary element method shape functions.

Moving kriging interpolation and element‐free Galerkin method
International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2002AbstractA new formulation of the element‐free Galerkin (EFG) method is presented in this paper. EFG has been extensively popularized in the literature in recent years due to its flexibility and high convergence rate in solving boundary value problems.

Crack propagation by element-free Galerkin methods
Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1995Abstract Element free Galerkin methods (EFG) are gridless methods for solving partial differential equations which employ moving least square interpolants for the trial and test functions. EFG methods require only nodes and a description of the external and internal boundaries and interfaces of the model; no element connectivity is needed.

Dynamic Fracture by the Element-Free Galerkin Method
Computational Material Modeling, 1994Abstract The element-free Galerkin method (EFG) is presented and applied to dynamic fracture problems. The EFG method is based on moving least square (MLS) interpolants in which the dependent variable at any point is obtained by minimizing a function in terms of the nodal values of the dependent variable in the domain of influence of ...

A new implementation of the element free Galerkin method
Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 1994A new implementation of the element free Galerkin method is developed based on a modified variational principle in which the Lagrange multipliers are replaced at the outset by their physical meaning so that the discrete equations are banded. In addition, weighted orthogonal basis functions are constructed so the need for solving equations at each ...
