Recognition by the Product Element Orders

Bulletin of the Malaysian Mathematical Sciences Society, 2019
If \(G\) is a finite group one may hope to determine \(G\) up to isomorphisms using certain numerical invariants. Invariants like \(|G|\), the sum of orders of the elements of \(G\) and the product of orders of the elements of \(G\) were all considered and found insufficient for the purpose.

High‐order finite elements compared to low‐order mixed element formulations

ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 2012
AbstractHigh‐order finite elements are commonly compared with linear element formulations showing that, in terms of the relation between computational time and achievable accuracy, linear element formulations are inferior to high‐order elements. On the other hand, the finite element community follows the h‐version approach due to its simplicity in ...

Groups with given element orders

2014

The Elements of Earthly Order

2022
Abstract Starting from the periodic table, this chapter lays out how humans have tried to order our understanding of the elements. There are many ways to categorize and label the elements depending on what factors we want to prioritize.

Element by element solvers of order N

Computers & Structures, 1987
A new family of higher order element by element (EBE) solvers possessing an improved accuracy is presented. These solvers are found to be consistently convergent, even for static one dimensional structural problems which are known to be troublesome for EBE solvers.

The characterization of finite simple groups with no elements of order six by their element orders

Communications in Algebra, 2000
We show that apart from A6 all non-abelian finite simple groups with no elements of order 6 are characterized by their element orders.
