Importance of elemental mercury in lake sediments

Chemosphere, 2009
Mercury (Hg) redox changes in sediments are poorly studied and understood, even though they potentially control Hg availability for methylation and can alter sediment-water Hg exchange. Elemental Hg (Hg(0)) concentrations in sediments of two Canadian Shield lakes were assessed by thermodesorption.

Elemental Mercury Removal by MnO2 Nanoparticle-Decorated Carbon Nitride Nanosheet

Energy & Fuels, 2019
Carbon nitride nanosheet (CNNS) is facilely synthesized via a two-step thermal oxidative etching approach and then decorated with MnO2 nanoparticles via incipient wetness impregnation method for Hg0 removal at low temperature.

Enhancing the absorption of elemental mercury using hydrogen peroxide modified bamboo carbons

Fuel, 2019
Bamboo carbon (BC) is a renewable and low-cost material used as sorbent in the industry. Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) has been used to modify BCs to enhance its mercury adsorption ability.

Magnetically recyclable Fe3O4 doped flower-like MoS2: Efficient removal of elemental mercury

, 2020
At the front end of the Electrostatic precipitator (ESP), activated carbon injection is a common method to remove mercury from flue gas, but the high cost, low efficiency and non-recyclability limit the practical application of activated carbon.

Elemental mercury poisoning.

Clinical pharmacy, 1991
Three siblings with inhaled elemental mercury toxicity are described, and the signs and symptoms of mercury toxicity, interpretation of mercury concentrations, and management of elemental mercury exposure are reviewed. A 4-year-old girl was admitted to the hospital with a history of fever and increasing irritability, fatigue, malaise, insomnia ...

Gaseous Elemental Mercury as an Indoor Air Pollutant

Environmental Science & Technology, 2001
Mercury is not commonly considered a household air pollutant; however, a number of potential sources of the metal exist in residential settings. Eleven of 12 indoor sites sampled in this study showed levels of airborne mercury that were significantly elevated over outdoor concentrations (range 6.5-523 ng m(-3)).

Cost-effective Manganese Ore Sorbent for Elemental Mercury Removal from Flue Gas.

Environmental Science and Technology, 2019
Mercury capture from flue gas remains a challenge for environmental protection due to the lack of cost-effective sorbents. Natural manganese ore (NMO) was developed as a cost-effective sorbent for elemental mercury removal from flue gas.

Exploration of reaction mechanism between acid gases and elemental mercury on the CeO2–WO3/TiO2 catalyst via in situ DRIFTS

Fuel, 2019
Although the oxidation of elemental mercury (Hg0) on catalyst can be significantly affected by acid gases, its mechanism is still unclear. This study used in situ DRIFT to research the influence of acid gases (NO, HCl and SO2) on the performance of ...

Immobilization of elemental mercury in non-ferrous metal smelting gas using ZnSe1−xSx nanoparticles

Fuel, 2019
Gaseous elemental mercury (Hg0) in non-ferrous smelting gas is generally accompanied by a high concentration of SO2. Traditional sorbents for Hg0 removal often suffer from SO2 poisoning.
