Fallschirmspringen, Paragliding und Wingsuit‐Fliegen: Im freien Fall

open access: yesPhysik in unserer Zeit, Volume 57, Issue 2, Page 74-78, March 2026.

Depth Image Super‐Resolution Reconstruction Based on Fractal Encoding

open access: yesIET Image Processing, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper proposes a depth‐image super‐resolution reconstruction algorithm based on fractal encoding, effectively reducing information loss by leveraging the resolution invariance of fractal self‐similarity transformations. ABSTRACT In response to challenges such as edge blurring and pseudo‐artefacts in the super‐resolution reconstruction of depth ...

A New Incremental Cycling Cognitive‐Motor Dual‐Task Test to Assess Simultaneous Sustained Attention and Neuromuscular Fatigue in Trained Athletes

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Medicine &Science in Sports, Volume 35, Issue 9, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Cognitive performance during cognitive‐motor dual‐task (CMDT) varies with exercise intensity. According to the inverted‐U theory, low‐to‐moderate intensity enhances cognition, but this remains unexplored in trained individuals who may better sustain cognitive performance at high intensities due to improved prefrontal cortex (PFC) homeostasis ...

Adaptive finite element methods

open access: yesActa Numerica
This is a survey of the theory of adaptive finite element methods (AFEMs), which are fundamental to modern computational science and engineering but whose mathematical assessment is a formidable challenge. We present a self-contained and up-to-date discussion of AFEMs for linear second-order elliptic PDEs and dimension d > 1, with emphasis on ...

Verbesserter Stofftransport und Ladungstransfer in COF‐basierten Photokatalysatoren mit dreidimensional geordneten Makroporen für die Benzylaminoxidation und Wasserstoffentwicklung

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 34, August 18, 2025.

The tempered finite element method

open access: yesJournal of Computational Physics
In this paper, we propose a new approach -- the Tempered Finite Element Method (TFEM) -- that extends the Finite Element Method (FEM) to classes of meshes that include zero-measure or nearly degenerate elements for which standard FEM approaches do not allow convergence.

Arithmetical pluralism and the objectivity of syntax

open access: yesNoûs, Volume 59, Issue 2, Page 372-391, June 2025.
Abstract Arithmetical pluralism is the view that there is not one true arithmetic but rather many apparently conflicting arithmetical theories, each true in its own language. While pluralism has recently attracted considerable interest, it has also faced significant criticism.

Fluorescent Probe for δ‐Cyclodextrin Enables Guest Encapsulation Studies via an Indicator Displacement Assay

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 3, Issue 3, May 2025.
A molecular probe that partially unfolds and exhibits fluorescence enhancement upon binding to δ‐cyclodextrin (δ‐CD) is presented. Its implementation in a fluorescence indicator displacement assay to test the binding of various guest to δ‐CD is demonstrated.

Stochastic thermodynamics for biological functions

open access: yesQuantitative Biology, Volume 13, Issue 1, March 2025.
Abstract Living systems operate within physical constraints imposed by nonequilibrium thermodynamics. This review explores recent advancements in applying these principles to understand the fundamental limits of biological functions. We introduce the framework of stochastic thermodynamics and its recent developments, followed by its application to ...
