Relationship between spatial and social phenotypes in an avian scavenger
Journal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.A method is applied to distinguish interaction rates that would be expected given animals' movements from those that exceed expected values due to incidental contact. The relationship between space use and both observed and non‐incidental social network position varies between social situations.

Journal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.We highlight an overlooked pathway in ecosystem functioning: the role of animal carcass decomposition in trace element cycling. By linking animal life cycles to landscape‐scale processes, we explain how large animals redistribute scarce elements and influence spatial heterogeneity, with implications for ecosystem functioning and restoration.
