Effect of elevated atmospheric CO2 level on the abiotic and biotic stress tolerance of cereals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Effect of elevated CO2 level (EC) was studied on the tolerance of cereals to elevated temperature and drought and on the resistance of wheat to fungal diseases. In general, elevated growth temperature did not affect final grain size, thus having less

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Bromelain-Extracted of Virgin Coconut Oil: Physical and Chemical Stability in Different Temperature During the Storage

open access: yesBorneo Journal of Pharmacy
The bromelain-enzymatic reaction is applied in Virgine Coconut Oil (VCO) production. Hydrolysis of the emulator by bromelain enzyme in coconut milk during the fermentation process maximized further the separation of oil and water.

The Chloride Ion Penetration Mechanism in Basalt Fiber Reinforced Concrete under Compression after Elevated Temperatures

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
Chloride ion penetration frequently leads to steel corrosion and reduces the durability of reinforced concrete. Although previous studies have investigated the chloride ion permeability of some fiber concrete, the chloride ion permeability of the basalt ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Study on the Lubrication Performance of Graphene-Based Polyphosphate Lubricants in High-Temperature Steel–Steel Friction Pair

open access: yesSurfaces
In the study, a hybrid lubricant was prepared by introducing graphene into a polyphosphate lubricant. In the tribological test of a steel/steel friction pair at the high temperature of 800 °C, the addition of a small proportion of graphene significantly ...

Composition and Dominance of Edible and Inedible Phytoplankton Predict Responses of Baltic Sea Summer Communities to Elevated Temperature and CO2

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2021
Previous studies with Baltic Sea phytoplankton combining elevated seawater temperature with CO2 revealed the importance of size trait-based analyses, in particular dividing the plankton into edible (>5 and

Behaviour of ground cupola furnace slag blended concrete at elevated temperature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Fires adversely affect the performance of concrete when expose to extreme temperatures. However, it is important to study the effects of elevated temperature on the concrete properties.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.
