Role of elevational gradients and climate variables in tree diversity, composition, and regeneration in Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary of the Western Ghats, India

open access: yesDiscover Forests
Elevation influences tree diversity, composition and regeneration in tropical forests. The present study tested whether changes in elevation correlate with variations in species richness and regeneration, which reflect forest structures.

Topographic and Soil Apparent Electrical Conductivity-Driven Management Zones for Nitrogen Fertilization Under Wild Lowbush Blueberry Production

open access: yesInternational Journal of Fruit Science
Wild lowbush blueberry (Vaccinium angustifolium Ait.) production is conducted in fields with heterogeneous growing conditions due to topography, soil properties, and crop density.

Alpha and beta diversity of birds along elevational vegetation zones on the southern slope of Altai Mountains: Implication for conservation

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Conservation, 2019
1: Understanding species diversity patterns is important for conservation planning. We studied birds’ alpha and beta diversity along vegetation gradients in three watersheds in the Altai Mountains, a global biodiversity hotspot; and tested whether ...

Delineation of high resolution climate regions over the Korean Peninsula using machine learning approaches [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this research, climate classification maps over the Korean Peninsula at 1 km resolution were generated using the satellite-based climatic variables of monthly temperature and precipitation based on machine learning approaches.

Mechanisms of IgE‐mediated food allergy and the role of allergen‐specific B cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Food allergy arises when allergen‐specific B cells preferentially produce immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies against harmless foods. This article explains the mechanisms driving IgE‐mediated reactions, highlights the central role of these B cells, and discusses how natural tolerance (NT) and oral immunotherapy (OIT) can reshape allergic immune responses.

Effect of elevation and aspect on carbon stock of bamboo stands (Bambusa nutans subsp. Cupulata) outside the forest area in Eastern Nepal

open access: yesTrees, Forests and People
Bamboo has emerged as a promising option for climate change mitigation due to its rapid growth, versatility, and renewability. However, in Nepal, there exists a substantial knowledge gap on carbon (C) stock and the influence of aspect and elevation on C ...

On the location of plumes and lateral movement of thermochemical structures with high bulk modulus in the 3-D compressible mantle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The two large low shear velocity provinces (LLSVPs) at the base of the lower mantle are prominent features in all shear wave tomography models. Various lines of evidence suggest that the LLSVPs are thermochemical and are stable on the order of hundreds ...

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

A phased creation of digital elevation model for hydrodynamic modeling in flat zones

open access: yesFacta universitatis - series: Architecture and Civil Engineering, 2022
Hydrodynamic modeling of rivers with flood simulation requires an accurate description of the riverbed and inundation morphology. Depending on a geodetic survey method and data collected, the digital elevation models with different accuracy can be created.

Snowmelt-runoff Model Utilizing Remotely-sensed Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
Remotely sensed snow cover information is the critical data input for the Snowmelt-Runoff Model (SRM), which was developed to simulatke discharge from mountain basins where snowmelt is an important component of runoff.
