Microscale Mapping of Fiber Strain and Damage in Composite Wrinkled Laminates Using Computed Tomography Assisted Wide‐Angle X‐Ray Scattering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study combines full‐field tomography with diffraction mapping to quantify radial (ε002$\varepsilon _{002}$) and axial (ε100$\varepsilon _{100}$) lattice strain in wrinkled carbon‐fiber specimens for the first time. Radial microstrain gradients (−14.5 µεMPa$\varepsilon \mathrm{MPa}$−1) are found to signal damage‐prone zones ahead of failure, which ...

Effects of Extremely Low Frequency Electromagnetic Fields and Simultaneous Treatment with Allium Cepa on Biochemical Parameters and Ultrastructure of Ovarian Tissues of Rats [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Medical Physics, 2019
Introduction: This study investigated the effects of extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields (ELF-EMF) (50 Hz, 3 mT) on biochemical parameters of rats’ ovarian tissues and the impact of Allium cepa on the reduction of potential adverse influences ...

Repositioning English and multilingualism in English as a Lingua Franca

open access: yes, 2015
In the relatively few years since empirical research into English as a Lingua Franca began being conducted more widely, the field has developed and expanded remarkably, and in myriad ways. In particular, researchers have explored ELF from the perspective

Biomarker Discovery In Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Using Epithelial Lining Fluid:A Proteomic Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
RATIONALE Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is the third most frequent disease worldwide with increasing mortality. Cigarette smoking is the principle risk factor and 15-20% of smokers develop COPD.

Interfacial Engineering by Metallic Ions and Organic Ammonium Ligand Passivation for Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A synergistic approach using phenethylammonium iodide (PEAI) and antimony iodide (SbI3) enhances the operational stabilities of perovskite solar cells by providing p‐type doping effect, suitable band energy alignment, reduced defect density, and minimized surface ion vacancies in the perovskite films.

Artificial Extracellular Matrix Proteins Containing Phenylalanine Analogues Biosynthesized in Bacteria Using T7 Expression System and the PEGylation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In vivo incorporation of phenylalanine (Phe) analogues into an artificial extracellular matrix protein (aECM-CS5-ELF) was accomplished using a bacterial expression host that harbors the mutant phenylalanyl-tRNA synthetase (PheRS) with an enlarged binding

Lifshitz Transition in Correlated Topological Semimetals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Theoretical calculations reveal that in YPtBi and GdPtBi, strong electronic correlations shift topological Dirac nodes away from the Fermi level by forming large hole pockets. This effect is sensitive to temperature and arises from interactions among 4d or 4f electrons, offering insights into Fermi surface engineering in quantum materials.

Corpus Linguistics and ELF

open access: yesIperstoria, 2015
Corpus Linguistics and English as a Lingua Franca (henceforth respectively CL and ELF) have been strongly interrelated since their early stages; this is largely due to the assumption shared by scholars in both fields that empirical analysis of natural text(s) is an indispensable prerequisite for theoretical discussion – and vice versa.
