Preparation of antimicrobial composite from Arabic gum-grafted-poly(p-phenylene diamine)/MOF(Fe) decorated with Cu nanoparticles as a unique nanobiosorbent for removal of cloxacillin antibiotic

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal
The growth of the world population has led to an increase in the demand for fresh water. Water pollution is often caused by hasty urbanization without proper management of hazardous waste.

Lens spaces, rational balls and the ribbon conjecture

open access: yes, 2007
We apply Donaldson's theorem on the intersection forms of definite 4--manifolds to characterize the lens spaces which smoothly bound rational homology 4--dimensional balls.

On the reducibility type of trinomials

open access: yes, 2011
Say a trinomial $x^n+A x^m+B \in \Q[x]$ has reducibility type $(n_1,n_2,...,n_k)$ if there exists a factorization of the trinomial into irreducible polynomials in $\Q[x]$ of degrees $n_1$, $n_2$,...,$n_k$, ordered so that $n_1 \leq n_2 \leq ... \leq n_k$.

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

A Virtual Synchronous Generator Control Strategy Based on Transient Damping Compensation and Virtual Inertia Adaptation

open access: yesApplied Sciences
To mitigate the challenges posed by transient oscillations and steady-state deviations in the traditional virtual synchronous generator (TVSG) that is subjected to active power and grid frequency disturbances, a VSG control strategy based on Transient ...

Electrochemical Evaluation of Compressed Selective Laser Melted AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg Alloys in Chloride Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The corrosion performance of AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg alloys produced through selective laser melting (SLM) was examined under compressive stress in a chloride environment. Electrochemical analyses, including open‐circuit potential (OCP), potentiodynamic polarization (CPP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), were complemented by scanning ...

Surveillance Capitalism or Democracy? The Death Match of Institutional Orders and the Politics of Knowledge in Our Information Civilization

open access: yesOrganization Theory, 2022
Surveillance capitalism is what happened when US democracy stood down. Two decades later, it fails any reasonable test of responsible global stewardship of digital information and communications.
