Nano Ellagic Acid Counteracts Cisplatin-Induced Upregulation in OAT1 and OAT3: A Possible Nephroprotection Mechanism

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Cisplatin is an anticancer drug commonly used for solid tumors. However, it causes nephrotoxicity. OAT1 and OAT3 are organic anion transporters known to contribute to the uptake of cisplatin into renal tubular cells.

Ellagic Acid Enhances RSL3-Induced Ferroptosis by Inhibiting the Nrf2/HO-1 Signaling Pathway in Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma. [PDF]

open access: yesFASEB J
Ellagic acid potentiates RSL3‐induced ferroptosis in PANC‐1 by suppressing the Nrf2/HO‐1 antioxidant defense axis via p38 MAPK activation and Keap1 upregulation. In PDAC cells, constitutive Nrf2/HO‐1 signaling establishes a robust antioxidant shield (GPX4, HO‐1) that limits lipid ROS accumulation and confers ferroptosis resistance.

Preparation of β-CD-Ellagic Acid Microspheres and Their Effects on HepG2 Cell Proliferation

open access: yesMolecules, 2017
Objective: In this study, β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) was chosen as the coating for ellagic acid to prepare ellagic acid microspheres, and the effect of microspheres on the growth of HepG2 cells was observed.

Determination of Ellagic Acid, Punicalagin, and Castalagin from Terminalia ferdinandiana (Kakadu plum) by a Validated UHPLC-PDA-MS/MS Methodology

open access: yes, 2021
Punicalagin, a bioactive ellagitannin predominantly found in Pomegranate, has a wide range of health benefits including potent antioxidant properties. The metabolism of punicalagin in human body produces urolithins and ellagic acid.

Therapeutic Potential of Ellagic Acid in Liver Diseases. [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules
Ellagic acid (EA) is a natural polyphenol found in various fruits, nuts, and mushrooms. It exhibits a variety of biological activities, including potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-obesity, and neuroprotective properties. EA exerts hepatoprotective effects through multiple mechanisms, including (1) scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS) and ...

Antimutagenic effect of ellagic acid and its effect on the immune response in mice

open access: yesCzech Journal of Food Sciences, 2002
Using the Ames bacterial mutagenicity test and an in vivo micronucleus test, we investigated the antigenotoxic effect of ellagic acid on the genotoxicity of three mutagens: amino-methylimidazo-quinoline (IQ), aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), and N-nitroso-N ...
