A hybrid method for ellipse detection in industrial images

open access: yesPattern Recognition, 2017
Many ellipse detection methods have been proposed for detecting ellipses in images. However, they are unsuitable for industrial images due to low signal-to-noise ratios (SNR).

Covering with Ellipses

Algorithmica, 2003
We address the problem of how to cover a set of "required points" by a small number of "axis-parallel ellipses" that avoid a second set of "forbidden points". We study geometric properties of such covers and present an efficient randomized approximation algorithm for the cover construction.

Ellipse, arc of ellipse and elliptic spline

Computers & Graphics, 1983
Abstract A general method for generating ellipses by using conjugate radii is presented. Elliptical arcs are then defined based on this method for generating ellipses. A 90° arc of ellipse is then used to generate a number of curves with slope constraints. Other arc of ellipse interpolations are then discussed.

The staggered ellipse

British Journal of Plastic Surgery, 2000
An incision is described in which the two ends of an elliptical excision are displaced. This can be used in two situations; in the reduction in length of one side of a digit and in the excision of two lesions close together.

Optical centroid ellipses beyond polarization ellipses

Optics Letters
Polarization ellipses are well-known as the result of coherent superposition of photonic spin states. As orbital counterparts, in this Letter, we introduce centroid ellipses that are geometrically mapped from optical orbital angular momentum (OAM) superpositions on a modal Poincaré sphere (PS) by coaxial interference.
