Non-existence of an invariant measure for a homogeneous ellipsoid rolling on the plane

open access: yes, 2013
It is known that the reduced equations for an axially symmetric homogeneous ellipsoid that rolls without slipping on the plane possess a smooth invariant measure. We show that such an invariant measure does not exist in the case when all of the semi-axes

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Comparison of the ellipsoid and simplex methods

open access: yesLietuvos Matematikos Rinkinys, 1999
The ellipsoid method is presented. The least squers functional of the basic solution linear constrains is used as ellipsoid. The Klee-Minty linear programming problem is used to compare the ellipsoid and simplex methods.

Characteristics of central visual field defect after macular hole surgery [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Ophthalmology, 2019
AIM: To investigate the characteristics of postoperative central visual field defect (cVFD) in patients with macular hole (MH). METHODS: Eighteen eyes from 18 MH patients were involved in this retrospective study which reviewed square root of loss ...

Relationship between the Velocity Ellipsoids of Galactic-Disk Stars and their Ages and Metallicities

open access: yes, 2009
The dependences of the velocity ellipsoids of F-G stars of the thin disk of the Galaxy on their ages and metallicities are analyzed based on the new version of the Geneva-Copenhagen Catalog. The age dependences of the major, middle, and minor axes of the

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Spectral element simulations of flow past an ellipsoid at different Reynolds numbers

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2009
A new method is developed to simulate the fully coupled motion involving an ellipsoidal particle and the ambient fluid. This method essentially reduces a two-phase flow problem into a single-phase fluid flow problem.

Collision Avoidance Problem of Ellipsoid Motion

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
This paper studies the problem of target control and how a virtual ellipsoid can avoid the static obstacle. During the motion to the target set, the virtual ellipsoid can achieve a motion under collision avoidance by keeping the distance between the ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.
