The Structure‐Mechanics Relationship of Bamboo‐Epidermis and Inspired Composite Design by Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This article investigates the micromechanics of bamboo epidermis, focusing on how anisotropic silica particle distributions enhance toughness. By integrating experimental imaging, 3D printing, and generative AI, the study develops bio‐inspired particle‐reinforced composites with mechanical properties akin to bamboo.

Moisture‐Dependent Vibrational Dynamics and Phonon Transport in Nanocellulose Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Uptake of water in cellulose play an important role in modulating the structure and phonon transport. This study reports how moisture‐dependent structural modification relates to the vibrational dynamics and phonon transport and scattering of nanocellulose using inelastic neutron scattering and wide angle X‐ray scattering.

Regularity for solutions of non-uniformly elliptic equations in non-divergence form [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We prove the Aleksandrov--Bakelman--Pucci estimate for non-uniformly elliptic equations in non-divergence form. Moreover, we investigate local behaviors of solutions of such equations by developing local boundedness and weak Harnack inequality. Here we impose an integrability assumption on ellipticity representing degeneracy or singularity, instead of ...

Spray‐Assisted Fabrication of Cellulose Photonic Pigments on Superhydrophobic Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A method to directly produce structurally colored microparticles by drying cholesteric cellulose nanocrystal microdroplets on a superhydrophobic surface is reported. This approach has several key advantages that can unlock large‐scale fabrication of sustainable photonic pigments, including exploiting existing industrial techniques (e.g. aerosolization),

Broadband Chiroptics with Twist‐stacked Hyperbolic Conducting Polymer Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 16, April 23, 2025.
Anisotropic conducting polymer films can exhibit optical hyperbolic properties which here are found connected to large birefringence and linear dichroism. Off‐axis twist‐stacking of only two such subwavelength films can therefore enable large and broadband circular dichroism (CD), with CD bandwidth closely related to the hyperbolic bandwidth. The study

Symmetry and Monotonicity of Solutions to Mixed Local and Nonlocal Weighted Elliptic Equations

open access: yesAxioms
This paper focuses on the symmetry and monotonicity of non-negative solutions to a mixed local and nonlocal weighted elliptic problem. This problem generalizes the ground-state representation of elliptic equations with the Hardy potential. The novelty of
