Electrostatic interaction energy between two coaxial parallel uniformly charged disks
We calculate exactly the electrostatic interaction energy between two coaxial parallel uniformly charged infinitely thin disks. For the sake of generality, it is assumed that the disks have different radii and contain different amounts of total electric ...

Painlevé equations, elliptic integrals and elementary functions
The authors focus mainly on the non-integrability of the six Painlevé equations \(P_J\) \[ \, \ddot{x}=R(\dot{x}, x, t)\,. \, \] In particular, they give a new direct proof of the non-integrability of the Painlevé equations as Hamiltonian systems (presented in new forms) by algebraic first integrals except for the special cases of \(P_{III}\) and \(P_V\

Butterfly wing scales are intricate cuticular functional nanosctructures. This perspective suggests that spatially varying material properties, cytoskeletal constraints, and growth‐driven mechanical instabilities shape the resulting nanoscale architectures created from single cells.

Ultrasmall Platinum Nanoparticles for Radiation‐Enhanced Cancer Therapy
This work proposes a nanomedicine‐based strategy to enhance X‐ray radiotherapy for cancer treatment. Ultrasmall Pt‐NPs exhibit catalase‐like activity that may contribute to modulation of the tumor microenvironment and amplify interactions between radiation and biological matter, leading to increased DNA damage.

Low momentum expansion of one loop amplitudes in heterotic string theory
We consider the low momentum expansion of the four graviton and the two graviton-two gluon amplitudes in heterotic string theory at one loop in ten dimensions, and analyze contributions upto the D2ℛ4 $$ {D}^2{\mathrm{\mathcal{R}}}^4 $$ interaction from ...

Generalized Hersch–Pfluger distortion function and complete elliptic integrals
The main purpose of this paper is to study the relationship between the generalized Hersch-Pfluger distortion function \(\varphi_{K}^{a}(r)\) and complete elliptic integrals of the second kind \({\mathcal E} (r)\), and to establish several new inequalities for \(\varphi_{K}^{a}(r)\) and \({\mathcal E} (r)\).

Log-trigonometric integrals and elliptic functions
A class of log-trigonometric integrals are evaluated in terms of elliptic functions. From this, by using the elliptic integral singular values, one can obtain closed form evaluations of integrals such as \[ \int\limits_0^{ /{2}}\ln\left(\cosh\frac{x}{\sqrt{3}}+\cos\frac{\ln \left(2\cos x\right)}{\sqrt{3}}\right)dx=\frac{ ^2}{8\sqrt{3}}-\frac {4}\ln ...

Chirality and Organization of Adsorbates Modify Surface Phonon Dynamics
Chirality and molecular organization are shown to influence surface phonon dynamics in gold films. Time‐resolved Joule heating measurements reveal that ordered homochiral monolayers increase the Debye temperature and disordered layers reduce it, while ordered racemic controls have no effect.
