Elm Bark Beetle Control on American Elm, 1979, 1980
Insecticide and Acaricide Tests, 1985Abstract American elms were sprayed hydraulically with methoxychlor to determine efficacy against twig-crotch feeding by the smaller European elm bark beetle, a vector of Dutch elm disease (DED). Experiments were conducted in each of 3 cities (Denver, CO; Warren, MI; Shaker Heights, OH).

Elm bark beetles and Dutch Elm Disease: tests of combined control
Anzeiger für Schädlingskunde, 2001AbstractThe possibility for the combined control of Ophiostoma novo‐ulmi and Scolytus multistriatus was tested in Italy. Two elm clones [U. pumila×U. minor (clone B) and U. glabra var. pendula grafted onto U. pumila×U. minor pollards (clone A)] were treated by stem injection of different blend or concentrations of fungicides and insecticides.

Siberian, Elm Leaf Beetle Control, 1978
Insecticide and Acaricide Tests, 1979Abstract Native Siberian elms, approximately 15 feet in height located 8 miles east of Still-water, Oklahoma were selected for the test. Trees were treated on Jun7 when larval populations increased to economic levels. Larvae were 1/8 to 3/8 inch in length.

Dutch Elm Disease Control: Economics of Girdling Diseased Elms to Improve Sanitation Performance
Arboriculture & Urban Forestry, 1982Early detection and immediate girdling plus prompt removal (within 20 work days) of diseased elms saved more elms at a lower cost than sanitation practices in which diseased elms were just removed promptly or were allowed to remain standing into the dormant season. A 5-year case history demonstrated savings of 25 percent in total cost and an additional

Dutch Elm Disease and Its Control
1979Excerpt from the report: Dutch elm disease was discovered in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1930 and around the port of New York in 1933. The causal fungus, Ceratocystis ulmi (Buisman) C. Moreau, was introduced on elm-veneer logs imported from Europe. Soon the disease appeared along railroad rights-of-way and at ports of entry.

Abstract Radially propagating pre-ELM (edge localized mode) structures in the heat flux profile on the outer divertor have been observed both with and without magnetic perturbations on Joint European Torus. Recently pre-ELM structures over 80% of the ELM cycle are observed.

Trunk Banding to Control Elm Leaf Beetle
Arboriculture & Urban Forestry, 1990AbstractElm leaf beetle (ELB) feeding injury was reduced by carbaryl trunk bands during a five-year study in northern California. The magnitude of injury reduction varied from year to year and appeared to be influenced by the proximity of untreated elms and yearly fluctuations in ELB populations. Banding one time per year using 1 % carbaryl (Sevin SL®)

Elm Leaf Beetle Control with Carbofuran, 1986
Insecticide and Acaricide Tests, 1987Abstract On 15 Apr, 11 juvenile American elm trees were randomly selected and treated with Furdan 15G, (carbofuran) at the rate of lg per 2.54 cm. trunk diameter at ground level. A second group of 11 trees served as untreated experiment controls. All trees ranged from 4 to 6 m tall and 10 to 17 cm trunk diameter at ground level.

Chemical Mixtures for Control of Winged Elm
Weed Science, 1975Various growth regulators, carrier systems, and ammonium thiocyanate (NH4SCN) additions in combination with herbicide mixtures were evaluated for their foliar phytotoxicity to winged elm (Ulmus alataMichx.). Silvex [2-(2,4,5-trichlorophenoxy)propionic acid] and 2,4,5-T [(2,4,5-trichlorophenoxy)acetic acid] were more effective than the dichlorophenoxy ...
